If I was to move to Poland from Ireland...

Same happens on the streets of Poland too, especially as Communism has fallen. Somehow, Communism did at least keep the Poles in line and gave them some sort of discipline with an aim to work to.

I would like to visit Poland some time. I know a lot of Polish people in southern Ireland. I guess lifestyle and things are obviously different living anywhere apart from your native land.. When my friends moved here, they obviously had a different experience compared to home... But home is always home...

Its been almost three years now that i have been here and I have to say im enjoying Poland more and more these days. After recently travelling around Europe and East Africa it was a relief to finally get back to Poland and to carry on enjoyong the country life style I have become accustomed to.

To try to answer your question, I would have to know what your lifestyle is like in Ireland?.
But as for me, the pub culture is very different, people are friendly but it is not the same as Ireland. you have to learn the language. The weather is a hell of a lot better than Ireland, it is one of the major reasons why I am here is that from season to season is like a different country here, extreme tempratures for an Islander.
I find Poles very like Irish in many ways religion, a crap history and drink. This gives very common sence of humour and mentality and understanding of what is right.
The biggest difference is the they had communism, what does that mean? well it means doing anything in an office is peeing against the wind, it is getting better but it still has a long long way to go.
There are cheap flights of course so you can go back as much or as little as you like (I don't bother much at all, I went back a couple of weeks ago, first time in over a year).
When comparing to Ireland I would say that people are not extroverted, this goes for the whole of northern Europe, the cold or something made the people cold. But there are things that jump up as being massively friendly, you learn that they smile with their eyes and have few very good friends rather than mates,drinking buddies, accomplices, people you hang around with etc... Pub culture is very new here, no auld fellas being part of the furniture, but it is catching on big time, so much so I am thinking of opening a bar.
