Until I left Poland the only Russians I knew were male Soviet soldiers stationed in Poland. I didn't feel inclined to develop any intimate feelings towards any of them.

Certainly Poland is not among states of first world

I do not know exactly what you meant, but of course Poland is one of the most agricultural states...really I don't have any idea is it bad or good, let's think it is good.
MrBubbles wrote:
Peasants

Sure if Poland is an agricultural, it has its own peasants. But I want to note that in times when some parts of Polan were connected to Russia after 1794, they where populated by most illiterate and retarded peasants in Europe. And it was totally Polish government whom we can blame in this fact.

My dear MAFIA is an Italian product, but sure Poland have their own bandits on the Belorussian border.

Dont be so rediculous, Poland had stolen this lands in previous epoch from Russia, this lands nevere been yours (or Litvenian).
MrBubbles wrote:

What? Who was genocided? But in my turn I want to point you out that it was Poles who ventured conc.camps for Soviet soldiers after 1920. And it was exactly polish generals who said that GOOD RUSSIAN ID A DEAD RUSSIAN.

It is suppoused that Poles are totally teetotallers?

Well and so on.....

cyg wrote:
Yes, there is - opinions like yours, for instance. What's your problem - first you admit you don't know any Poles, and then you insult someone because she likes them or even the sound of the language. How old are you?

There is nobody on this board who was insulted by me, I just expressed my oppinion, which means only one point, that it was sounded too insincerely.
shopgirl wrote:
CK, that is just SO typical of you! (You are such a bad-ass, old school Russain!)
Don't you like anybody at all? :)

I just want to swing your deepest feelings. Come on express somthing else, more than one-dimentional - "I LOVE YOU SO MUCH"

I get the feeling that you still have a somewhat simplistic view of history. But I'm sure you'll cover these things in sixth grade or thereabouts, so no worries.

Hello, I am Irish and having grown up in the west not much information was getting through about Russia, Only stereo types and propaganda about Russian Mafia (shoot first ask questions later) and communism (misery).
Communism is not Russia.
The only thing that really got through was the fantastic writers (even in translation were brilliant) chess players and scientist.

I have always admired the soul of the Russian people. Their music, literature, ballet and inventiveness are superb. These are the guys who invented the surgical staple gun to quickly suture WWII wounded. It took the west 30 years to get around to using them.

At the same time, I fail to fathom how they are so willing to accept dictators whether it be Czar Whomever or Stalin or Putin. I read a book written by a Frenchman who visited Russia in the 1800s, and his narrative could have easily described a visit to the USSR in 1950 with the secret police, subservience of the church to the state, and the perks of the rulers.

Constantine -Russia always fumbled along behind and grabbed Poland's coat tails in a vain attempt to get some cred in Western Europe. You still have along way to go to take your place in the ranks of civilised nations - until such time, remember your place. No one likes pretenders, especially violent ones.

Oh no, it's too far from me, about 700 km. Moscow-river is much nearer.

You're absolutely correct. The title is Letters from Russia by Astolphe de Custine. I didn't keep it, but found it very interesting. It's not the only book I've read on Russia. There have been several. I have to agree somewhat with Winston Churchill's "Russia is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma."

So what was wrong with de Custine's book?

Also, you asked for "Your intimate feeling toward Russians." The fact it has been ruled tyrants for centuries doesn't take the beauty of Russian literature, music and art. Even during the Communist era, underground art flourished.

Dzien dobry, well, I'm Russian, and I have just started learning Polish. It was my dream for a few years cause I adore Anna German (singer, Poles seem to have forgotten her, she became famous in the USSR and died at the age of 40 after quite a tragic life). I just LOVE how Polish sounds. Then I appreciate much Polish cinema, "Sara" is my favourite movie and Boguslaw Linda is favourite actor. I never hated Poles, and it was a surprise for me to learn that they are "a bit hostile" to Russians. Not all, I hope. It is only a week ago that I was told about Katyn murder and I'm going to watch a film by A. Waida. Now at least I know WHY. But we do not hate Germans, even my grand-father who was a soldier during WWII...

I can almost guarantee that most Poles have no problems with the Russian people, its just your government and the history between our people that creates a sort of resentment.

"Express your feeling toward Russian"

With individuals - love for sure.

As a whole - I cannot forgive a knife in our back when they entered Poland on 17th Sep pretending to be friends, only to start mass murders one day after. In this case I'd rather prefer the Germans - they made their point clear and obvious.
