82,000 to be exact. It's no way near the "greatest stadium" in the world. I'll name a few that are much better stadiums;

The Millennium Stadium. Although the capacity is just 76,000 the architecture and technology is awesome. A roof that opens and closes too.

Wembley Stadium. Capacity 90,000
Need I say more?

The Emirates Stadium is also immense.

I must agree that the milolenium stadium is awesome and it has one of the best atm9ospheres in the world. Cardiff put on hell of a good show while wembley was being rebuilt, now the stadium is used fow a few concerts and welsh games. Shame really

19th of november i

It will be a sad day for Poland... ha ha ha.
Oh but I see it is not Hurling or Gaelic football, yet another thing that has changed since I've been away, well then Poland just might have a slim chance. ha ha ha
The craic will be mighty at that, I will try to make it over for a laugh.

Croke Park is the greatest stadium in the world, anyone who says any different has either never been there or is just jealous.

Have you been to the likes of Wembley, Millennium Stadium, the Emirates and the Nou Camp?

Well get them out then...!

It doesn't matter who built it. Who built Croke Park is not an issue. What we are discussing is the "greatest stadium in the world."

I would say the best modern stadium is the allienze arena in munich, was there this season with Aberdeen and it was just awesome,
But i love the maracana in belgrade for the best old style original football stadium.

Impossible, this can not be true.
Croke park and the airport are far away from each other.

Lawless:

you people need to get out more.

What?
This is about a match, outside.
You dope.

irishdeano:

Is any of you going?

Unfortunately not, do you know if it will be on the radio? I can pick up Irish radio on the internet URL

For such a simple thread, there seems to be a lot of fecken edgits.

I have been to the millenium and nou camp, both very impressive but the later is falling appart. I suspect Croke Park is probably one of the finest stadiums in Europe without doubt, possibly at the very top of the pile. Although some of the asian ones, and american ones are pretty impressive.

deirdre:

5 minutes to croke park, and then 10 minutes in the opposite direction to Dublin Airport . . . are you using time travel ? :D

you people need to get out more.

Best stadium does not equal how big or expansive, i find the millennium stadium pretty boring and sterile, most stadiums built today look the same anyway. Even the american and japanese ones look like bowls with seats, kinda crap.
The San Siro, Genoa ( Sampdoria ) ,The Mestilla (Valencia) and the Bernabue in Madrid i think are pretty impressive, they're very unique and have their own character. The San Denis looks amazing at night. Check them out...

"close on three occasions just the wrong side of the post" they just said that, ha ha ha

But ireland love being the underdogs and comeing back to kick arse.

C'MON IRELAND!!!

Half time now...

The Polish team is getting a lot of praise from the Irish commentators .

Second half.

Ireland decided to let Poland get more goals due to the massive layoffs.

Poland was allowed to score straight away in the second half.

Yeah, that was a great match. What a strike by Lewandowski to put Poland ahead 3-1. That really made the difference.

Many Poles will get the "Irish flue" tomorrow morning and not be able to go to work :)
