Irish/Brits banned from hotels in Warsaw

Hi,
I've heard that many Irish & British are banned from hotels in Warsaw because of all the trouble they cause at stag parties.
Is this true?

Its no surprise to me, I have often seen the same people here at home ruining places especially itenerants

Warsaw already? I heard about Cracow. And yes, so many of them behave...mmm... let's say, inapproprietly.

i also did here there was some trouble in wroclaw, but don't think anyone has been banned yet.

It's not true, plenty of British/Irish stay here. Anyway, it would be illegal to ban EU citizens on the grounds of nationality.

And thw Wrocław thing (about banning kilts) was a publicity stunt by the mayor (very good at promoting his city) intended to encourage stag tourism.

It's unfair to say British because all the Scotts and Welsh that visit have a good time without trashing the place. The Irish are good people too but they are getting rich and with that maybe a little arrogant - like the English. Poland will soon get used to this kind of behaviour and in time Polish yobs will also be going around singing "get yer tits out for the lads!".

Im quite sure there is people in Poland doing this already and everywhere around the globe it doesnt happen just cos people get rich. also all of Ireland is not getting rich. I live her i should know.Im sorry but thats a load of trash jeeeeeeeez

I'm not going to write a 10,000 word thesis on the links between wealth and social behaviour. In this case I am generelizing. The richer they get, the leerier they get (by this I mean as an economically advancing nation - not by the individual i.e. general).


Yes they are doing this already but not in the crass arrogant UK way. Just go back 5 years and you can see how the behaviour of Polish blokes has become less civilised. Just an obsevation. Civilised is the key word.

Poland is an old fashioned county - older men can still be seen kissing the backs of ladies hands etc They struggle with the stag night concept UK style. They younger generation - unfortunately - will watch and learn.


Of course it's not as straight forward as,
" Oh I've suddenly made loads of money - so I'll behave like a Twat - jeeeeeeez"

So next time you LADS are in Warsaw town - show a little respect and you'll
find they'll do anything for you.

It's true that some hotels here will simply not take bookings for all-male groups from the UK (at the weekends anyway). It is indeed illegal to ban EU citizens on the grounds of nationality but a hotel can refuse any customer for any reason they see fit. If they are refusing people based on race or religion then they can expect problems (and deservedly so) but if they have an unofficial policy of always telling groups of Brits that there is no space, they will not have any problems. And even if somebody did complain the hotel can fairly easily prove that it is actually their official policy to bar all-male groups (other than corporate travellers or conventions).

Judging by the behaviour of the group of stag-idiots I saw on Sunday afternoon at the intercontinental (sitting in the first floor bar giving loud blow-by-blow accounts of the previous evening's trips to brothels and strip bars which led to all the other customers leaving fast), those bans are called for.

fine, they can ban ALL stag does then NOT just Irish & English for being PERCEIVED as the ONLY troublesome ones :)

And don't forget to ban all hen nights too..... some of their behaviour has shocked me to the very core....

yeah i'll tell you from bitter experience watch out for hen parties. I remember working security in Yates in Aldershot. And the hen groups there were down right dangerous, I've actually had to put a choke hold on a 7 stone girl just to tear here of anothe rbattling broad...nuts...

Ogorek, I think you made some great points there.

It is true what you said about Irish, we have definitely become more arrogant and less respectful in general. We're not all bad of course, but I was often shocked by the behaviour/attitudes of friends in college only a few years ago and these are the people who now travel abroad.

Also regarding the Poles, your point is again very accurate. A lot of young Polish guys over here think they're Al Capone, wannabe gangsters.
A lot of the older men are among the most civilised and well mannered people I have ever met in my life.

I am not quite sure how if this holds up; you are talking two different cultures/ attitudes/sets of values.

The Irish don't have a culture related to invasion, conquering/colonising/ruling other nations/beleiving ourselves to be superior.

Yes, the younger part of the nation is effectively Catholic in name only, yes they now are financially well off, can now travel, enjoy a higher lifestyle - but at a cost, less time for people, seeing other peoples as an opportunity to make money, much faster more frustrating/impersonal lifestyle, particularly in Dublin and to a lesser extent in other cities.

We have gainer a lot....but also lost certain things.........




Again there are issues surrounding this.......even though the hotel may well have grounds to ban certian groups...if its found that....that group was all Irish/English/Danish, you would still have grounds in law to take an action as it was indirect discrimination.

all young Poles want is to have your Irish standard of living.
