sledz, im in the US and yes, without insurance, them docs can charge some
pretty ridicolus prices , they have free screenings from time to time , you would
have to check your local papers, or contact the hospital near you to see when they
have them, they still charge in some places (depending on income) but I think
they do offer at lower rates (affordable ones).

I do have insurance, I might as well get a complete exam then, my co pay is
something like 40%

well, you probably need sleep study if its during your sleep. did you tell your
doctor about it?

my husband has that, wont go, stubborn as hell, and if he did, he would probably
get good nights sleep, if you have sleep apnea, you would end up with a bipap
which is a machine (loud for some) that blows oxygen in and you actually get a
great sleep . my hubbys grandmother has one. of course he needs it, but wont
go. I know several others who have them.

have you gone to any websites on sleep apnea.

the hiccup part you got me baffeled, if its while your awake, maybe not
swallowing so hard lol <~dat dont look good. lol

You may have a hiatal hernia, Sledz. Do you ever have difficulty swallowing or feelings of pain after eating just a little? It also might be good old reflux. You definitely should have it checked out if it persists.

As for checking your cholesterol, you may check local university clinical trials....I know we have several studies going dealing with cholesterol, and many will screen you and give results, even if you do not qualify for the study. Check Northwestern and other universities in your area. There should be all kinds of studies going on in Chicago.

As for the sleep apnea, Pat is right, you will have to have a sleep study completed to diagnose. If you have it you will probably be placed on a c-pap machine which you wear at night. One of the symptoms of SA is extreme tiredness throughout the day, because you are not getting restful sleep (of course there are many other things that could cause that, but if you experience it, you may have it checked out.)

I have Insurance and havent had Physical in about 5 years
couldnt hurt to go to the Doc.....I get nervous when I go to these places.

Ranj, my husband has it bad, I mean bad, he would prob need the big guns if ya
know what I mean, the funny thing is, he isnt tired all day, but he can sleep
at the drop of a hat! he can lay down and two seconds later he is out!

it scares me at times, and he wont go get this done, he wont even go to the
doctor for antibiotics when he needs them, one of these times he wont be so
lucky and its gonna bite him in the arse and he will have to listen!

if we women dont have enough on our plates to worry about, and have to
keep on these men about taking care of them selfs!!
so sledz, if ya dont go before the wedding and get that checked out with proof
that ya went, I am sure you will get some serious yelling at!! so dont mess
around with it, if your concerned get your arse into the doctors!!

oops, forgot to add, when my hubby is sleeping, I have to shake him because
sometimes he stops for longer then scares the Sh*t out of me and starts getting
all mad at me because I am shaking him awake.

he needs bipap, his sleep is hard at times and other times, his feet kick when he
stops and starts back up snoring, his grandmother has one, its like pulling teeth
getting him to take care of himself. frustrating.
