I am a scottish Iain and so Jan/Janek/Jaszek as well...it would appear that today would be our name day. Which is nice because it was my birthday yesterday and it means I now have an excuse to go out drinking again :)

Happy Name Day (if it is today)...
Good question. my gf's name day was yesterday, but her birthday was in April. How does it work?

you or the parents?
So I suppose in the case of my Kasia she has chosen one 7 months away from her birthday so that she doesn't get "combined" presents.

Oooo...that sounds like a plan. Trust me to have a name that means lots of excuses to drink.

if you are a little newborn baby it's up your parents but i dont think that wildover has to ask his old folks to choose the name day for him ;)

I'm not allowed to have a name day. The boss has several (of course) and uses them as a convenient way of justifying all sorts of celebrations.

Confession will always be open for those that are truely sorry and have some juicy gossip.

I think there already is a confession topic. You have spent too much time away from PF... do you have a life or something???
I think another Catholic tradition you might want to avoid is the one where they don't party for a certain length of time before Christmas. Can't remember exactly how long for...
