Is it normal to take a friend with you on a 'date'?

I'm wondering...
(If you have read my other posts, you might know I kind of like this Polish guy.... see How to get to know this polish guy better)

Last time we met, he brought his best friend along, and a while before he asked me out for a drink (and there he was with some of his friends)...
I don't know what to think about this, I would have prefered to see him alone...but ofcourse I prefer seeing him (and his friends) to NOT seeing him at all....

i think you already went thru the same situation last time, i may be wrong.

that guy may be shy, thats why he brought his friend with him.

i will second that, maybe ask him to go to the cinema, then atleast it might be harder for him to bring his friends

or a dinner.. something only 2 can do..

2. he isn't sure if he is seriously interested in you
3. he wants to see what his friends think of you before he proceeds
