Jakub has been given 2 mandatory life sentences. This is not a standard 9 year jail sentence where he will be eligible for parole once 1/3 then 2/3, time off for good behaviour etc.

He has a MINIMUM tariff of 9 years (which will be revieweb by the Home Secretary - like (s)he does when ANYONE is given life in the UK).

This basically means he will serve at least 9 years and will unlikely be released until he admits his guilt at his earliest possible parole hearing in 2016.

All that is assuming he engages in the rehab programs UK prisons have for sex offenders and is showing good signs of rehabilitation. Also he will have to behave himself in jail to get a hearing at the earliest opportunity. No fights, drugs etc.

If he never admits to the crime then he will be an old man before he gets out.

You see I think that 9 years for almost killing a woman is nothing.
Sex offenders are always model prisoners. He will do everything by the book, admit the gilt, attend the classes, yaddie yadda, and he'll be out in 9 years. But, yes there is a but, sex offenders never cure. They just can't change, even if they honestly try. There is no pill for being a sex offender. A rapist is a rapist even in his 90's, so is a child molester etc. So in 9 years there is gonna be a rapist walking the streets of Poznan, I'm sure he is going to try and resist his urges at least in the beginning, but that one night, he may have a drink or to, or the weather is going to be unusual hot and muggy, and he'll see an easy target and... One more women lying under a car dead or fighting for her life.

There is no doubt that 9 years is a pittance for what he did.

It is not going to be an easy 9 years, that's for sure. Sex offenders are targets inside, and he is in big trouble is he is designated to do the time in Exeter prison where EVERYONE will know what he is there for.

Hopefully he is going to Dartmoor. Ancient prison for a medieval crime.

The good thing is he will never be allowed back in the UK, deported after his sentence is complete in probably ~12 years time and then he is Poland's problem :-)

I need to read more about the case to be honest. But Im sure if he was innocent then the defense wiould have presented the exhonerating evidence.

Even if there were found body fluids on her,DNA of which would not match that of suspect,this would only indicate that the rapists were more than one,Tomczak included.It does not prove anything else.
To prove his innocence Tomczak needs an alibi and a proof that he had contact with her in time before the rape happened.
