JERZY OWSIAK - PRO AND CON?

Jerzy Owsiak - pro and con? His annual Great Holiday Orchestra fund-raiser has outfitted and supplied many hospitals and saved many lives. At the same time, his annual summer rock festivals are awash with 15-year-olds as well as younger and older underaged youths bombed out of their minds on joi9tns and brew who demolish traisn to and from the venue. Some critics say he saves the lives of newborns so he can deprave them when they make it into their teens. What do you think?

where are parents of those children?

but, more seriously: i've been on Przystanek Woodstock twice, it was really nice. about drugs: i dont think that there ware more drugs than on any concerts/festival for youths.

first of all.this is just one event.how is it possible to deprave someone in a day or two?
my friends were on przystanek and loved it.there was no violence(or very little) no rapes and murders.nobody forced them to take drugs.those people who like drugs they will take it anywhere and anytime.
owsiak did more than all charities in poland all together.he was attacked by lots of people, especially some catholic organisations with radio maryja leading the witch hunt.the reason?he is competition to some catholic charity organisations e.g.caritas.the problem is that he is so straightforward and clear(finances) in what he is doing and his work made him famous.despite all the dirty attacks lots of people love him and support him

I've met him and he seems like a really nice straight forward guy.

Charitable organizations don't compete with each other, unless some just pretend to be "charitable".

That's exactly the point.

I think there are in fact very little people who don't support Owsiak in Poland. Yes, there are some ultra-orthodox Catholics who say Przystanek Woodstock is evil but these are just the same people who say rock music is the work of Satan etc. But in general, he's got a lot of support in Poland.

I think a lot of his detractors have a problem with his flamboyant image - they still think that in order to be truly charitable you have to dress in a potato sack and turn all attention away from yourself.
The Przystanek Woodstock thing is also part of it - some people say that he shouldn't be spending the charity's money on it, but in fact the hoopla he has built around the Orchestra is one of the reasons why so many people continue to volunteer, and the money actually comes from interest on the collections - but not even all of it. The rest of the interest also goes to charity, and each year the Orchestra donates more money to its causes than it collects from people. Now that's a neat trick.

Especially in Poland where "extra" money for things like charities is small and hard to come by for individuals to give.
