Thank you for your post...the main modern historian to explore the history of the Khazars was the Jewish writer Arthur Koestler with his book 'The Thirteenth Tribe'...it is extensively documented and a very good read...Mr.Koestler was ostracized by the Zionist elements in Jewish community after it's publication, and ended up commiting suicide with his wife...whether the suicide was directly related to the publication of his book, I can't say...but there are a number of other historians from the early 20th Century who also did research on this...for a Muslim perspective on these people, who are sometimes referred to as 'Ya'Juj Wa Ma'Juj' go here:

I cannot speak in favour (or against) of this very forum, I am a new guy here, but I encountered plain hostility and hatred toward Poland and the Poles from the Jews on other forums, especially Jewish ones: ynetnews.com and haaretz.com.
