My partner is English and he'd like to come around to Poznan in October. We're looking for a job for him but it's not that easy as we thought. He doesn't speak Polish at all(apart from basics and we're working on it).He finished cratf work at the university which gives some more problems-his qualifications. He is experienced in bar work(he was a bar manager for 6 years). To be honest we'd be happy with any job but job :) Thank you very much in advance for any helpful information.

You don't need a lot of qualifications to teach! I just took a short 3-weekend course and found a job in poland within a couple weeks. Some schools might even hire you without any TEFL certificate but it might be a good idea to get one anyway, it will improve your chances. There's lots of work in Poland for native English teachers!

Well I took a course called Oxford Seminars, but I was in Canada, I'm not sure if they have the same in England but there are definently other courses like that in the UK, just google it and see what your options are. My course was 60 hours long and cost me almost $1000 Canadian. It was a very simple course. You can go all out and take more intensive courses or go as far as getting a fancy degree but that is not necessary! Plenty of private schools with hire you when they see you've got some kind of certificate (which proves you're serious about moving abroad to teach) You won't get paid very much, but at least it's a job for you. Other than teaching what else can you really do in Poland....

method based schools such as callan, avalon and berlitz (of which there are quite a few in poland) dont require you to have any sort of teaching qualification.. they will train you up to teach THEIR way. you will, however, need to present yourself appropriately when applying to these schools. a little online research will fill you in

dont be disheartened if replies are not forthecoming - they frequently arent. best bet is to do some leg work early in the academic year

probably the best way to find an english teaching job in poland is to turn up, do the rounds with your CV and introduce yourself. then its a waiting game. schools might not need you there and then but if they have your CV on their desk, know you are in town looking for work, meet their requirements and are easily contactable then the phone call will eventually come.

different times of the year will offer different results - start of the academic year is best. if you are unqualified and in popular cities then you might find competiton for jobs strong. if you are unqualified and in a small town or city you might find that schools are desperate to have a native speaker on their books. Poznan will be a mixed bet i suspect - do the leg work and you shouldnt have too many problems finding some classes

you wont need to be an expert in polish to find a teaching job but a few words will obviously help :-)
