Job opportunities in poland for a foreigner? (other than a teacher)

How true!
The same in the US. Plumbers and electricians have one of the better paying jobs. So one would not do good in Poland.
So the only job in the whole world for an American in Poland is teaching english.

Job scene in Poland far as I can see here is ... Lot of big firms meanly international big names all coming here so English speaker do and can get job on then ,even if you dont know polish working language in these big firms is english . thing is the wages will be lower then in places like London ... so if you want to come and dont really want teach there are other stuff to do dont give up the fight .

Best of all would be if you have a professional job such as a civil engineer or an accountant and you may be able to work in Poland for an international company with an interest in that area of the world. English Language teaching is all right for a while if you are young but it is not a career path for a family man.

I think the great thing about Europe, especially for contractors, is the possibility to be based in one country and to be able to work throught the Union. So live in Poland with cheaper living cost and earn abroad. love it.

Zion you could teach your own native tongue. there must be a demand in Warzaw somewhere, perhaps put up an ad in the main Universities.

there is one school that teach Latin Languages and Portuguese i mail then but no luck yet, there is one american company that i may have a shoot to work with no polish speaking skills need they all speak english there so hope will work out . right now i have also an offer for a call center UK firm so will see , mean while will apply for the Permit to stay and hope for the best .

Your best bet is teaching or translating. Other jobs don't pay well. The range is between 35-60zl never heard of 80zl/h but I guess it's possible according to kaka above.

Wroclaw will be building a new one. Don't know when.

In Warsaw, Wrocław, Gdańsk and in Poznań (but in case of the last one I think that already existing is going to be modernized) + maybe (as It hasn't be sure yet how many teams will play in 2012) a new one in Kraków and modernized in Chorzów.

I was reading in a Polish paper over here in the uk, that because there are so many Polish looking for and working in foreign countries that there is a shortage of people to do the jobs in Poland.

From what you people are saying this is not the case ?

Some people are taking advantage and doing two jobs. This is true in the building sector.

Some still have a problem finding work in their chosen field.

What options would there be for an Australian that doesn't speak Polish, but has a bachelor of law (International & Environmental Law), bachelor of education, bachelor of science (biology)?

I'm also looking for a way to live in Poland, for about a year, starting around next april or may. I'm canadian, and my girlfriend lives in Lodz right now.. It explains the fact that I need to find a solution as soon as possible :o)! I would need to find a job in that area, any job, I'm a university student, but i dont have any diploma yet.. I can speak french, english, spanish, and some polish (I'm looking for a teacher here in Montreal by the way.. ;o)).. I don't care much about the salary, as long as I get some pay that allows me to buy some food and stuff.. The thing is, I read that i have to be hired before i go, to have this work permit.. I don't know if some of you know another way to deal with all this?

Poles Prefer english teachers who doesn't speak Polish though ;ife is much easier in Poland when you speak some Polish.I must admit English is on a very high demand here.Im a Kenyan studying in Wroclaw.I've been living on money earned from teaching English all through.I can't complain.I charge 40zl an hour.I charged less at the begining but became more expensive with experience.I've taught with other Polish teachers but there are things their local techers just don't feel, thats where a native speaker comes in.Im treated as a native speaker though English is just my national language.
You will not 'starve' with some english knowledge in Poland but i guess the demand might become lower when the Poles who moved to Uk come back.
Don't look for any other Job that is no related to English unless it's a foreign firm.You will be very disappointed by the pay especially if you have no experience. There is a serious shortage of programmers though but i guess this is a global problem with the exception of India and China ofcourse.Good luck and welcome to Poland.amattah99@gmail.com

Make sure that you have: English Grammar in Use. It's the most popular grammar book. Check it out online.

Bring some test books from the UK. Even books graded for 14 yr olds will have a good level of vocabulary for 18 yr old students here in Poland.

Most people are happy to learn from photocopies, which should work out cheap for you.
