More importantly, is that 3500 per week?

What's the going rate these days for a qualified teacher with a few years experience these days?
I am not interested, just curious.

Vastly depends. I know some teachers who were earning as little as 1500. The more intelligent of us moved out of teaching as quickly as we could. Money is in proofreading ect

Oh, come on! That works out (assuming 30 classes a week, which is a light load) as 12.50zl per class! Even Callan schools pay double that.

Bit of a chicken and egg situation there though, isn't it? You can't get the well-paid regular work unless you've done high-level work and you can't get the high-level work unless you've done high-level work and can prove that you're able to do it. And if you want the good jobs, you have to be prepared to work whenever you are needed regardless of anything!

Im not asking about professional teacher. I wrote "some experience".

I already have one person, student from UK who actually WILL work for that money. He has one year free of school and just want to visit poland and get some experience.
I;m looking for second person.

and of course 3500 is netto, and its easy job, with lots of free days, free time during the day.
If you are not interesting, dont write and dont make this topic longer.

To be fair, at least the poster put the salary in the advert. Though it would be difficult for a foreigner from a developed country to live on that unless accommodation was included.

Hmm. And people wonder why ESL Cafe is blocked in some countries, at the behest of school owners.
SeanBM:
I worked 8 hours a day for 4 days a week and I got 4000 PLN.

Pretty much the same here, except I worked 4.5 days, 11 years ago.

It seems that the market is changing in PL. A friend who's DOS of one of the better in-company suppliers in Warsaw just lost a very big (280 hours per month) contract to a rival who are supplying natives to clients at 32zl per hour, including materials. God alone knows where they get natives for in Warsaw at that price less overgeads and drawings. Not a good sign. At least I sold the school in time - the Poles who bought it went bust within 18 months!

Not to students who were getting paid cash in hand.

Yup, but all worth it when you look at the bank balance at the end of the month.

Do you tell your clients that the teacher they pay good money for is not a professional?

Have you heard the expression "pay peanuts, get monkeys"?

Since when has teaching little kids been easy? And how is the teacher going to have lots of free time during the day given that they'll be working 7-8 hours a day? You planning them to do 12 hour shifts?

Before adults go to work or kids go to school and after.
4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening, lots of free time in the middle, maybe?

That's what I hated about the job. It fecked up your day. Good thing I got out of it, but I do miss some of the lessons.

It depended on the day I guess. Of course you could fit in your private students or get things done as you say. But after 5 years of it I needed to move on. When the opportunity arose to work at an international firm based in Krk I snapped it up. Even though I attempted to turn it down 3 times :D

This is one reason among many to give this a very wide berth indeed. There are plenty of schools advertising through the usual channels. If the OP is behaving like that because people dare to discuss her ad (on a forum!), what the hell would it be like to work there?

I was thinking that too, discussion forum and all, what else are we supposed to do? ;p

Are you a teacher Jonni?

I am not, I don't think I was particularly suited for it but I still give the kids around here a hand with their homework just to help out.

Well, on the plus side, given that she's already said that she doesn't want a professional and that her clients are well aware that they are not paying for a professional, one could roll into work everyday an hour late hungover to hell and back and then read the paper with feet up on the desk before slipping off for a three hour liquid lunch and then a classroom snooze before returning to the pub for the evening shift. She can't really moan about one being totally unprofessional.

Yes. Then I had a school for a while in Warsaw (two, in fact) and taught as well. I could see the market changing for the worse, year on year, so went to Saudi. Now I'm having a couple of weeks of idleness in the UK before a year in the Sahara teaching technical English at an oil camp. Grim, but it pays quite well, the teaching facilities in oil-rich countries are like nothing at all in Europe, and the best thing is that I do a 5 week stint in the desert, get flown back to Tripoli and then have two weeks free with a return ticket to anywhere (in practise mostly Warsaw, which is home now).

But it was great to teach in Poland for ten years. I always did either military or in-company though - at times very nice work.

Does sound fairly decent. If I thought that I could support a proper drinking habit on four grand a month, I'd be tempted to apply!

I worked for a kindergarten here for a couple of months, it was a pure and utter nightmare.

It was a a private school though, if that makes a difference and the kids, well, the vast majority were spoilt brats...they were from 4-7 years old and none of them...not one of them, could read or write. WTF is up with that? 4 year old kids that can't read? Jesus, what am I saying, 7 year old kids that couldn't read.
I was appalled with the school, all the kids did was dance and sing and play sport or do some colouring in their picture books and then to keep them quiet the teachers would give them crisps/sweets/chocolate, fizzy drink or that high sugar diluted scrap...they'll have no teeth when by the time they're 12.

Teachers used to tell me if they get out of control you can shout and scream at them until they shut up....err....what? That's a really great way to treat kids.

But I'm rantin a bit sorry....here's the main thing. If you cannot speak Polish then do not even think about working in a kindergarten, the kids simply wont understand you, no matter how many flashcards or games or whatever you try and use.

OP you'd be far better off getting a Polish teacher of English as they'd actually be able to communicate with the kids unlike someone with no or basic Polish. Plus 22zl per hour is pretty weak.

A Chilean friend of mine came to work once still drunk straight out of Kitsche, he proceeded to teach the English lesson in Spanish, 30 minutes went by and he lost his temper cos none of the students answered him and walked out the class. I've never laughed so much than that day :D

You are not looking for a job, You are here to have a conversation. And its not what I would like to do. So - my fault, that I put here this ANNOUNCEMENT.

And dont call me unprofessional, bc Im just doing what I was asked to do.
You dont know yet what this job is all about, so dont judge me!
