Due you mean football or soccer? They are not the same, to us here in the U.S.A. It's Europe and here we call it football because surprisingly you use your foot to kick a ball hence football. Maybe you should rename your sport to armball or something like that - just saying...
Actually, it's genuine enough. What these companies do is place someone in the stands, updating information literally as it happens, straight to the company and through to the bookies - so for instance, if there's a book on next yellow card, the bookie can have the market suspended as soon as there's an incident that looks like a yellow card will be issued, thus meaning that someone in the crowd with a laptop can't take advantage and place a huge bet. That's actually true as when I was teaching a few years ago one of the English teachers used to work as a football commentator every weekend and travel all over the country. Didn't know it was to do with bookies though.
