ah now this is getting interesting, some fab comments thanks for the veiws its reallly helpful. To answer your question stu the purple things are violet potatoes, it is there natural colour very dry and waxy so they can take alot of fat, butter and olive oil. The "sausage" is braised haunch of venison the meat is then picked down and mixed with pearl barley, vegetables and the reduced stock of the cooking liquor, I then wrap it in cured ham. Crack open the pinot noir and you are sorted for the evening.

For three courses its 48 pounds, for 7 course 60 pounds and 10 course 70, but if you break it down i think a main course would set you back about 25 pounds.

I've been through the same situation. Poland is very much a who you know country therefore E-mailing CVs probably won't work. Large hotels will employ you but without the language you're unlikely to get anything remotely senior.

E-mail me your CV to (mucker20@hotmail.com) and I can forward it to some people who may be able to help. Moving to Poland is quite an adjustment especially if you're used to working in british kitchens. Produce availability here is limited so don't expect anything like what you've been used to. Good chefs are especially hard to find, I know this because I recently opened a restaurant in central Gdansk.

Poland is a fantastic country to live in, sure the winters are long but the people are friendly and the once you learn how to laugh at things like holes in all roads and ridiculous bureaucracy life here can be very rewarding.

If you need any help/advice please feel free to contact me.

I visited Original_Burger yesterday afternoon but didn't have time for either a burger or a beer, but I'll be back for both! It's a nice place on Dluga and I met Tom and Ewa-nice people. Good luck to you with your new restauarant.

I had a great-and I mean great!-cheeseburger and a brew at original burger this afternoon. If you're in in Gdansk and you're walking down Dluga toward the Motlawa, you'll find it on the left just before the town hall. Friendly folks and good food. Try it!
