If any one has job offers in Poznan for students do post here your offers. English speaking students with bit of polish speaking and other languages like Hindi, Chinese, german, bulgarian etc. Your offers are welcome. Thanks in advance.

To be honest, the job market in Poznan is such that there is no need to hire foreign students - especially as foreign students don't particularly want to work for 10zl an hour. Any teaching jobs will be done by those that have actually studied it - unless it's a major language.

Mind you, there's always kebab shop work.

Leaflets, "hostessa" work, that sort of thing. But generally, foreign students tend to turn their nose up at such work.

I heard of one case here where an Indian student who could barely afford to come, came here expecting to make 30-40zl an hour as he had somehow got it into his head that Poland was on a par wage-wise with Western Europe. He paid his fees, got a flat - then of course couldn't find a job paying anything more than 10zl an hour.

Poznan is *not* a friendly place for international students needing to work. There may be some teaching on offer for those capable of impressing, but this is very much the minority.

I dunno really, Poland isn't that friendly at all towards non-white students working. Remeber our little kebab shop friend? Can't imagine he's going to have much luck getting more than peanuts cash in hand here!

10 zlt an hour isnt that bad when you consider the cost of living over in Poland.

39 x 10zlt = 100 euro?

Depends if it's just pocket money or if it's to live on, really. Polish unis are a lot more demanding time-wise as well.

What Indians (and Chinese) tend to do here is to show the powers that be that they have, for example, 20,000zl in the bank. They then pay the money back once they've shown it to the Foreigners Office (or to the embassy if they want a visa in the first place) - and they try and work to pay for the costs of actually living here. Of course, Poland being Poland, the Pole is always going to get the job over the foreigner - especially as the foreigner is no cheaper than the guy who is on disability and just wants a cash in hand job.

Used to go on a lot in the UK too, but they're massively clamping down on it now.

Thats ridiculous, things like petrol cost exactly the same here and certain things are more expensive. at 10zl per hour you have to work 2 hours to buy a gallon of fuel so your wages would barely cover the cost of a commute, also housing is expensive, we pay 450 GBP equivalent for our 2 bedroom flat and even a bedsit is 1000 pln per month.

10 pln per hour isn't even worth getting out of bed for.

The cheapest, nastiest halls are about 400zl a month, with sharing a small room in the worst place.

Mind you, I got in touch with some Indian student who was advertising "import services" here. The joker couldn't even give me a price for delivery to Poznan!

Five years ago I would have agreed with you, RN. However, prices have really shot up across the board. Trust me, I live here and have to budget better than before as I need to factor the cost of a kid in in the future. Cigarette prices have almost doubled in that time. Salaries are disproportionate to inflation.

Of course, it happens in every EU country. How many of the Indians and chingalings are "studying Polish" in a language school?

Heres one for you. A couple of weeks ago a Chinese lady rang up a popular radio talk show over here. She claimed that is very difficult for a non-national to gain employment now. She was in Ireland for ten years on a student visa. What was she studing for ten years, only english. Did the presenter pull her up on this, did he fcuk.

Personally, I dont mind the chingalings or injuns(of the non muslim variety, of course). They are industrious people and avoid coming under the radar(social welfare, et al).

If you were in a large city you could rely on public transport. I rarely use my motor, I much prefer using public transport.

250 euro for a bedsit? C'mon, thats patently false.

Not everyone smokes, has inflation risen at a similar rate?

I am not saying 390 zlt per week is a good wage. Id spend that in my local on a good night. But for a frugal third worlder who is trying to gain a foothold in Poland, its doable.

It certainly is doable as they have many cheap places to shop at. They just need a cheap place and no major payments. 1500PLN a month? Ouch, my expenses are 2200PLN without any shopping. I don't understand how some Poles do it.

The lunch time daily specials you lot have over in PL and CZ are great value. Pure peasant food but it does the job. Cheap and cheerful.

To be fair, mostly the Chinese are studying medicine, and the Indians are mostly studying nonsense "management" subjects in weak private schools. Not all, but that's mostly how it goes.

Nup, it's the going rate for a place about 30sqm or so. Usually because the cost includes the administration costs. The lowest I've seen for somewhere livable (though in an absolute dump of a block) was 750zl recently. Heck, the administration charges for my place are over 700zl a month!

All but eliminated in Poznan at least - kebab shops are now cheaper if you want something filling and cheap.

I got a place for 750PLN including bills. It's not at 950 but was cheaper for so long. I got lucky!

Thats very expensive when compared to the average wage. It reminds of a certain island on the edge of europe circa 2003-2007. ;)

How do they break down the administritive charges?

Thats a pity.

Every pub in Prague still serves the lunch specials. A portion of soup, pork, dumplings and sauerkraut for in around 89 kcz. Great value.

Off the top of my head, it's about 300zl for heating, 100zl for water, then the rest is for stupid things like communal maintenance, the lift, the intercom and other things that I don't have the remotest idea about.

They have a remarkably efficient system here for dealing with people that don't pay - they put up a sign every year saying "this block owes blah blah" - and then if people don't pay their arrears, they then put up signs saying who owes what. Quite devastatingly effective, I'd say.

Mind you, you should ask dnz what happened when they wouldn't let him pay his utility bill ;)

FUNNY TO SAY WHEN THE CHEAPEST PRIVATE SCHOOL A FOREIGNER WILL GET IS 2000EURO , HOW MANY POLISH CAN AFFORD TO PAY THIS

THE FACT IS POLAND IS NOT WELL OPENED TO FOREIGNERS , COS ITS AN EMERGING MARKET, EVEN POLISH GRADUATE CANT GET JOBS .

AND I WONDER WHAT U GUYS HAVE AGAINST CHINESE AND INDIANS
