I am interested in applying for a teaching position as a native speaker in a School based in Warszawa. I am currently based in the U.K but will soon be moving to Warszawa later this academic year.

I have a very strong interest in pursuing a teaching career. I have teaching experience with Kindergarten grade level ages 4-5. This position enables me to provide these students/children with a 'head start' in mastering basic skills. I am challenged to be creative, nurturing and most of all, patient.

Since I can remember, I always had a passion for different cultures, countries and languages. For me learning a new fact about another part of the world or a capital of a city brings me joy.

When I was in High School, I had an opportunity to have my first classroom teaching experience in a school of any level. I volunteered at my local Kindergarten which I had to attend every Tuesday for 2 months. In those months I was an assistant to the main Kindergarten teacher. I helped call out names for presence, read stories, helped them colour and paint, arranging activities for indoors and outdoors, prepared work for them to do, serving them food, helping with mistakes and basically acting the role of teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with the children as it gave me my first realisation I wanted to teach.

My thought is why not combine my two passions, teaching and languages. I would feel so good knowing that I am giving pupils a chance to learn an international language. English is one of the most used languages in the world, and I can be part of helping people learn something that will last a lifetime.

It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent teacher who will make a positive contribution to your school district. I have a diverse background with much to offer.

Why not be pro-active then and personally write to the schools within the locality of where you will be living within Warsaw bearing in mind Warsaw is large and has 18 districts, so knowing whereabouts you will be central to might help you with your searching of school and it would be advisable to apply prior to the school year starting.

ah, the youthful idealism not yet supplanted by the middle-age cynicism.

Teaching is a competitive racket, good luck.

i have been considering doing the same , although i feel that my lack of Polish (virtually none-existant) is going to be very restrictive in terms of making any sustainable cash flow.

incidentally do you speak polish to a high level?

No high level. Most native speakers do not need to know any Polish to get a teaching job really, from all the vacancies ive seen. Gives me some hope. Are you from UK hoping to get a job in Poland? Whch part of Poland?

The best thing ive found so far is this

Most probably not - if you're prepared to live like a similar Pole, then it's possible - but you have no chance if you want to live like a Brit would live in the UK.

Why don't you use your username instead of hiding behind a guest account? We all know who you are!!

Why, it's our friend Bradbury!

I wonder if he's conducting proper criminal background checks on those teachers working in pre-schools, we wouldn't want someone to tell the schools about him now, would we?

So Chris - are you conducting full criminal record checks on those that you hire?

Or are you happily allowing people to work with small children that you haven't checked? Tut tut!

Is it needed in Poland?

Not needed by law, but you really have to question the wisdom of hiring a foreigner without knowing a damn thing about their past apart from what they tell you. As Harry is fond of saying - it's a matter of time before something seriously bad happens in this respect.

And more to the point - many people do seem to believe that such teachers are checked - as public teachers are.

Hey Delph.

I have not put any of my teachers in to the pre-schools yet. But I have a question
how would I go about doing a criminal background check?

Because I think it would be a very good idea, as it's diffiicult to know techers past history.

Simple. Insist on a police check. An experienced EFL teacher should be able to provide one - many countries require them as a matter of course and large police stations in UK and elsewhere are used to providing them. Remember that if the person has lived abroad (not unusual in this profession) they would need one from each place they have spent significant time. In PL, the courts provide them on request.

A similar Pole knows how to shop and does not have to eat three kebabs a day to sustain himself. However, kebabs and beer are cheap, so the Brit will do fine.
