I bumped into this forum completely by chance but I decided to stay for a while. I am a bit of an English language freak, I study English and Russian here in Gdańsk and I would love to get to know some English people (have not noticed any Russians so far).
I find your comments on Poland quite mind-expanding. It is always good to look at oneself from a different perspective.

How do denizens of Gdansk refer to themselves? Gdanskans?

I have no idea how to put it in English... In Polish I would be a "gdańszczanka", a male citizen of Gdańsk would be a "gdańszczanin" and they would both be called "gdańszczanie" ;)
