I know Gorzow Wielkopolski very well indeed. I have no reason to visit it these days, well, I have no real reason to go to any part of Poland anymore. I must say that it was not my favorite place in Poland. I am trying to think what the main part of the town looked like as all towns in Poland look so much like the last one you have just visited. The same dreary shops and vile little open air markets selling Russian rubbish.

Michal. Why even reply if you aren't there? He didn't ask how other feel about it.

Um. If they all look alike then you'd remember what it looked like :)

I've been to many PL cities and none look alike ...besides the fact that most have a center square.

No, you are quite right-I am not in Gorzow and have not been for many years. It is just one of those back of beyond sort of places not at all pleasant. Two streets make up the town centre and twenty miles of vile concrete blocks make up the suburbs-I have seen it all. The Poles love concrete as a building material. I wonder what would happen to the Polish building and construction industry if the World ran out of cement!

They're smart and crafty. They'd use wood.

It's also proven to last many years. How else would all of the 9000 yr old churches last?

I hope so, maybe I was always there when the weather was not very nice. When a place is dull then it never looks very nice but from my recollections, it was an awful place through and through. Sad little streets with little dark shops and a vile open air market. Nasty back streets with vile little courtyards. Something like England in the sixteenth century. I never miss the place, anyway, there are plenty of places around the world to see before going back to such a town as this.
