Katyn - it didn't win anything.. the silence of the media.

Interesting that a few days ago, before the Oscars, the news in Poland was all about 'Katyn' the movie and how Poland was culturally fab. Then it didn't win and NOTHING about it in the media. Not even stuff on PF about how Poland was hard done by (which I was expecting). Mind you a 'puppet' film payed for by the UK and the Oscar itself accepted by two Brits won and that's all they can talk about on TV in Poland and how if it wasn't for the 140 Poles involved it would not have won. Nobody mentions the fact that if it was not UK funded it would never have been made.

well i saw day after Oscars info in media, and aloso i know (from media) UK payed for this... anyway they dont give Oscars to ppl who payed for movie... and Andrzej Wajda is film director so he get nomination to Oscar in his cathegory... And he is rly good director atleast in poland so any excitation is normal atleast for me.

Yep I agree, Wajda is a fantastic director, 52 years of amazing films, but I hate the silly media circus about a Polish film being nominated for an Oscar. I saw Wajda interviewed on the Tomasz Lis show last night ( after it didn't win)and I thought he was a fantastic cool guy but that media circus about Poland being superb was well over the top. I do think the Polish media is very deluded in that way

of course, had he got an Oscar, the media would have something to write/talk about :)
