You can say "kawę" as in "proszę kawę" meaning "coffee please" :)

Thanks, yes I mean coffee, but is W pronounced as an English V even in this context?

Wary of pronunciation after my experience with German. Speak good German, but initially learned phonetics very badly....partially due to my teacher and partially also because I simply didn't focus on it!..determined not to let that happen with Polish!

I figured out coffee but keep ending up with milk in it. How can ask for black coffee. I have trouble recognising the word milk when I'm offered coffee.

Phylan - "Poproszę bezkofeinowe capuchino."
Snow Queen - milk = mleko. However, coffee with milk is default, so you need to say you want your coffee to be black.
