Your username intrigues me haha. Are you refering to the band Bathory or Erzsebet Bathory or something else?

I'm refering to great Polish King Stephan Bathory. Thanks for noticing. What school do you go to in Houston? Lovely city, but watch out for those hurricanes!

Aw man I need to read up on my Polish history :) They didn't teach me that in public school lol. I go to University of Houston and study opera singing :) Yes it is a nice city, except the weather is awful! I'm excited because I heard they are building a Polish cultural center here.

No kidding. American schools couldn't care less about Polish history.

Very nice. Go Cougars, right. I can't say that I know much about Operas but I certainly respect the singers. My favorite is Don Giovanni, actually I love most Mozart operas. What's your favorite?

Hah most people don't even know U of H exists! Well, maybe if you're a college football fan, the drama between us, UT, Rice and A&M is pretty awesome.

I actually just auditioned today for the fall opera season with "Batti, batti" from Don Giovanni! It went very well :) My favorite opera, hm... Rusalka by Dvorak maybe? Or Carmen? I've been trying to educate myself more on Russian opera, it is so beautiful and hardly performed here. Ruslan and Lyudmila has beautiful music, but I haven't seen it yet.

and, since you are partly Hungarian, you might want to look at their history too.
Báthory István was a Hungarian fella. He was elected to be a king of Poland, where he is known as Stefan Batory.

welcome to PF.

haha yeah I thought Bathory was a Hungarian name. I think it's really cool how many connections there are between Hungarian and Polish cultures, on the surface they don't seem that related. My favorite is the fact that Queen Jadwiga was Hungarian.

Thank you! :)

How did your audition go? What vocal range are you? (I'm a bass, although, I should tell you that I can't sing. But when the world is unlucky enough to hear me sing, it's in a low register.) I don't know how far you are from graduating or how serious you are about opera but there's a great opera house near where I grew up (Des Moines, Iowa) where a lot of young opera singers go there to start before moving on to some place bigger. I knew a few people who work there and could get you some information on how to apply. I'm probably being too forward, but us Yanks have to stick together among all these hostile Brits on this forum (I'm kidding, guys. God Save the Queen). Anyway, I hope your audition went well. "Batti Batti" is one of my favorites.

It went very well thank you! The director said it was a good song for me :) I'm a lyric soprano. Hahaha I bet you're not that bad, basses are awesome (although they typically have trouble keeping correct pitches lol) I'm almost done with sophomore year and yes I have heard alot about Des Moines! I have no idea what I will do after undergrad though, many get a master's, some lucky ones get into a young artists program... who knows what will happen. Hahaha I haven't met any hostile Brits yet, but thanks for offering to help! :))))

Bobaks in Chicago

Remember, every relationship takes hard work equally by both. Look what is in side him and notice the simple small things he does. In short, It is a balance between independence and togetherness. More later!

I believe they are most interested in beauty more than anything and you will find their interest all over the world is this way. Their culture unfortunately does not lean towards the most important issues in relations above looks and money and what and who the woman really is as a person more than just a body. Muslim men have forgotten most polish women are catholic. They would realize this if they were looking for more than just looks.
