What kind of American food do Poles like most?

I would like to cook something American for some polish friends for a gathering. I would like to get creative and cook something unique. I can't come up with anything! Please help me in figuring out something Poles would like to try.
All the American recipes I find arent' really American or the ingrediants are not found here. Any suggestions?

My brother in law stayed with us recently and one day I made pork chops that were just pan fried with onions and herbs and he said that he had never had them that way as mostly in Poland they bread and fry the "schabowy". How about mashed potates made with cream and butter - mostly in Poland the potatoes are just potatoes or maybe au gratin potatoes - if you live in a larger city you may be able to get some kind of "yellow" cheese but unfortunately it probably won't be cheddar. Also, a normal American salad - lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, etc with a homemade ranch dressing would be popular. Or some kind of chicken that's not fried - maybe marinated and grilled or broiled chicken.

I am looking for something more for a potluck, not so much a meal. Snacks, cakes, pies... that sort of thing. I am from the US and am not sure of what kinds of sweets are here. I am thinking maybe brownies. I have found them in the store but they are American Brownies and made like cookies so I am thinking they are not really made a lot? Am I right?

I thought of New York Style cheesecake as well. The cheesecakes here are weird, filled with fruits and such... So hard!

Well, snacks, cakes, pies aren't a food really, polish people like to eat, like to eat a lot, like to eat a lot of meat. Beef stew would probably make them happy, also, slow roasted prime rib. As far as "smaller" things you could try some mexican things. And pumpkin pie isn't popular in Poland, I guess some of them may find it very interesting.

What about a sampling of maybe something tex mex - chili, garlic bread (no where to be found in Poland - guaranteed ) maybe no exactly AMerican but we eat a lot of it. What about some kind of casserole - Poles do not do casseroles so that might go over good.
Yes and pumpkin - my husbands relatives find it very interesting that we eat pumpkin!

Chili is a good idea, too. Never had a chili in Poland.

CHILI! That's my boyfriend's idea! I was signed up for cake. This is a casual thing, in the states, Chili is not a casual potluck dish. This is a office gathering with snacks! Finger foods! I'm thinking Brownies?

Brownies would be good. How about Chocolate chip cookies? Can't get much more American than that!

Rotisari (ROW-TISS-A-REE, I suck at spelling recently, lack of oxygen to the brain. I have a soccer ball rolling around in my skull)

My whole family likes rotisari chicken. It's great

My husband's family members would not like gumbo in the least. But rotisseri chicken is great. But they have that in Poland.

Nope. It's definitely a soccer ball rolling around in there. Can't stop playing the game, or thinking about how to get better

Homemade guacamole is the best. Or hmm, deviled eggs are usually popular at potlucks. Crabcakes, coconut shrimp, buffalo wings, 7-layer bean dip, quesadillas, etc. etc. I usually make spring rolls which are Thai, but everyone loves them .

A typical American (big) hamburger should be fine for any Polish male. Mix it with a Polish (not American) beer though .

No many recipes that are American, but I would suggest for a larger crowd
Barbaque Spareribs, or country style, depending on how many. but you could
cook them inside and par boil and then bake in oven with pineapple on them
with some sauce.

I think that would go over well as they are tender. Baked beans goes well with them
and good ole american Potato salad ,or even amish Potato salad.

stuffed shells is also a great idea with a nice ceaser salad and garlic bread.

its hard to really say these are just American dishes, because I dont know when
they came about, but these are some of the things eaten here, so when they
were created who knows, I dont really think we have true american dishes
because everyone came from europe and other countries and most of what we
eat are combined dishes .

if anything is American is the good ole hotdog. dont think you want to serve that
unique dish lol less your heading for a baseball game afterwards

I am thinking Brownies or possible s'mores. I have found 2 recipes that I think are good. Salsa and Guac are a great idea since the salsa here tastes like ketchup (YUCK) !!!

Chocolate chip cookies are a great idea but I can't get Nestle chips sent in time and well, making anything but the Nestle is wrong!

What about nachos? I think that we eat enough of them to be considered from the US.

Geeez....why is everyone so against American beer?

Learn what to buy and not what everyone else is buying and maybe, just maybe you'll be surprised We have some fantastic beer here.

Buffal wings would be the way to go

I am American and until I came to Poland I thought American beer was good. Other than Bell's Oberon, Poland's got us beat.

Nah. You just havent had enough good beer Yes, the majority of PL beer is better than our mass produced watered down wee. But, we certainly posess some treasures.

Check this appetizer out. It's awesome and American. Its Pretzel Crusted Honey Mustard Chicken.

INGREDIENTS
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
3/4 cup prepared Dijon-style mustard
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
3/4 cup crushed pretzels
DIRECTIONS
Cut the skinless, boneless chicken breast halves into 1 inch cubes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
In a small bowl, combine mustard, honey, cayenne pepper and garlic salt. Mix together, and set 1/2 of mixture aside to be used as dipping sauce.
Coat chicken chunks completely in remaining mustard mixture, and then in pretzel crumbs. Place coated chicken on prepared cookie sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve with reserved mustard dip.

Valmoe1,

Are you looking for ideas for hearty Appetizers? Or desserts? or dinner?

What about Stuffed Mushrooms, Deviled Eggs, Small Quiches, Cocktail Meatballs for a start?

Boiled eggs sliced in half and stuffed with a filling made of the boiled yolk, mayonnaise, dijon mustard, salt & pepper, and sprinkled with paprika. Some people add pickle relish to the mixture, too.

GrandeSande- No one seems to notice I need desserts! Cake to be exact. I am making brownies. Although there were many great suggestions NONE were of a cake! LOL

Oreo's and Ben & Jerry's would be lovely but in Lublin, good luck finding it! That's the other hard part. The ingrediants are hard to find for a lot of things. Brownies are easy and good. Thanks for all the Dinner advice to all though!

And by the way, if anyone does know where you can find American Ice Cream in Lublin, I'd kill for a pint of Hagen Das Mint Chip Light!
