If possible, I would like a translation of this email, please:

Pozdrawiam
Stanisław Tymowicz

Good day.
I unfortunately don't understand English.
Regarding your information, I earlier accessed the mail looking for possible relatives. From the established location, your family lived in the part of the village known as "na dole" (lower part). Currently in that area are probably living descendants who don't know their family tree.. If any information comes to me, I'll send it back to you.

Regards,
Stanley Tymowicz

Well, a volunteer located a picture of my great-grandfather Wasyl Kocielko's gravestone which listed his year of birth as 1877. I thought the 1881 date on his death certificate may have been incorrect, as his immigration record and WWI Draft Card both list a date in 1877 or 1878. If anyone else who is researching the same surnames has information, I'm interested.

I received the marriage certificate of my great-grandparents and learned some things:

They were married August 10, 1909 at Holy Cross Church in Joliet. He was 29, and she was 20. It was a first marriage for both. Andrew Olownik and Anna Wilk are the witnesses. Andrew's last name is similar to the Olepnik name I found for a possible stepfather to Wasyl's nephew Nestor. This Andrew could be him. The parents of Wasyl were Dymitr. (last letter could be i or o, I guess) Kuciełko and Ewa Buczyk - slightly different than what I had, especially his father. Helen's parents were Adalbert Pilip and Catharina Urbaniak.

Thanks, Grzegorz. I don't remember writing about Sakowskis, and I have none in my database. Perhaps Beti wrote in the wrong thread... unless I missed something.

According to Wikipedia, Dymitr is the Polish form of Dmitry, so the name on Wasyl and Helen's certificate of marriage is probably correct the way it is.

Hey long lost cousin. Your words of Paul(my dad) made me cry. It took me awhile to figure out who you were. I am learning alot about our family on here. Love to you and all others in the family.

You can see pictures of the family's graves, as well as pics of my grandfather Dominic and our great-grandmother, at findagrave.com. I don't have a memorial for your father Paul yet, because I didn't know his location of burial or if he was cremated. If you'd like him to have a memorial, I can add one for him if you tell me this info. Or, if you would like to add it yourself, that's fine.

My father was buried in Elkhart, Indiana At Rice Cemetary. I see you have been busy. I know I can get the middle name of my Grandma Helen. I am waiting for a call from my sister. I am impressed with your research of the family name. I have always wondered how big this family was. I knew it didn't end with the ones I have knowledge of. With dad being dead, I can't add to much. My son is doing a page on our family history in school. This has been helpful.

I have several, but I only added two to his memorial. I have no pictures of your grandfather, my great-grandfather Wasyl/Basil. I was told he looked a lot like Joseph Stalin, though. Do you happen to know Tillie's last name(s)? I know she was married two times had had her son Nestor with the first husband - online info and my uncle confirmed this. I'm not exactly sure of the last names, though. Also, do you know if your grandfather Wasyl/Basil had any other siblings besides her? I believe there was another sister named Malanka Wolownyk. Your grandmother Helen had a sister named Marianna/Mary Solomon (she died in the family's home at the end of Luther Ave in 1944, I believe). Frank Pilip was their younger brother. Another brother was killed by the Germans in WWII. I don't know his name. His daughter was named Leona Stoklosa. To my understanding she stayed in Poland.

Hi,

I'm Wasyl's great-grandson and would like to see that pic of him if possible. Are you able to upload it to the computer if possible? His memorial on findagrave.com lacks a pic of him, and my late grandmother (Wasyl's daughter-in-law) misplaced most of her pics of the Kocielko family when she moved. Thanks for posting!

I was wondering if you were still around to answer some other questions if that's possible:

1. Do you have any info regarding the siblings of Wasyl and Helen (our great-grandparents) or further info of relatives in Poland? I know of Wasyl's sister Tekla "Tillie" on Rice St. in Chicago who had a son named Nestor. I'm not sure of their last names. One of my uncles said that Tillie was married twice, and Nestor was from her first husband who died. I know that Helen had an older sister named Marianna "Mary" Solomon and a younger brother named Frank Pilip. I've gotten quite a bit of info for them. I wasn't able to find an obituary for Mary's son John (died February 2002 in Reno, NV). I know very little about his family. I think I have a picture of one of his wives. I've been told by different people that he was married twice. On the picture is written, "To Aunt Helen, Love Marian Solomon." This 'Aunt Helen' is our great-grandmother.

2. Do you have middle names, birth dates, birth locations, death dates, and death locations for the descendants of your grandmother Anna Lewicki? I don't expect you to put it on here to the public. It could be done over PM or email.

3. Is her first husband Raymond Hancasky, Sr. still alive? I can't find a date of death for him anywhere.

If any of this is too difficult to answer, I understand completely. Have a great day!

I was looking and noticed a poster had a bit of info about Theodore's family. If he or anyone else is available, I'd like to know the date of death for his wife Martha.
