I'll never figure out why, when people have an opinion they think is valid they don't use their own member name...?

As for rowdy Brits, yes, quite often a stag party nowadays consists of getting horrendously drunk and being anti-social (for some anyway). Then again, if you are working in a hotel and someone phones up and asks for accommodation for 15 blokes what are you thinking about? The reputation of Krakow? Or the money coming into the hotel?

It happens in the UK also that some clubs/pubs will continue selling alcohol to people who are clearly way past needing it. So don't imagine that every club in Krakow will turn away 15 drunk men with cash to spend. Especially on a slow night...

hmmm valid point, you win..,. however because a greedy club owner wants to make money doesn't mean 99.9% of other people have to suffer.. get the point?

It doesn't have to be about greedy club owners, just people trying to make a bit of cash. They're exploiting the fact that Poland (Krakow in this case) is the "place to be" at the moment. As someone mentioned previously, next year it will be some other country.

I'm not excusing British louts, believe me I find them an affront to the country. Out of the thousands of British people who visit foreign countries every year the majority (say 90%) are mature and well-behaved. It will always be that minority that everyone picks on though. What about all the British tourists in Krakow who are not loutish and rowdy but there for the sites, the culture etc? Do you think they condone their countrymen's behaviour? A few of them may have been put off visiting though, thanks to the stereotyping that's been thrown around.

Out of interest, do you find that it's just stag parties or are there many hen parties there as well?

True.

I'm just back from a stag-do in Budapest. The corresponding Hen-night will be in Spain as per.

Er, I wish someone would point this out to my friends then...most recently I've been to Aberdeen and Newcastle for "hen weekends" and never in the Summer months either... :)

Such middle class arrogance being spouted in this feeble thread.

The British are just as entitled to enjoy themselves abroad as anyone else.

Yes, they do it differently, yes it may not be to locals tastes, yes it may offend middle class values and other social mores, BUT you forget the British have taken over and run more countries over several centuries that they have gotten used to invading other countries by social means now....and its not to everyones satisfaction.

None of this is new.....it traditional........going back hundreds of years.....get over yourselves!

Depending on "class / age" of hens, it's nothing like a stag dooo, generally pretty chilled and NOT based around drinking...AND NO DRESSING UP...

Nah, I can't be bothered with this dressing up thing. I missed one hen weekend recently because of what the bridesmaid (therefore organiser) wanted us to dress up in.

The Aberdeen one was the most chilled out. The Saturday night was supposed to be the "big" night but we were all in bed by midnight because we'd been busy all day, walked for miles, shopped, bowled, had a meal.

So you would condone British sex tourism to places like Thailand?

As long as the people involved are of the age of consent there isn't a problem. Sex tourism is one of Thailand's biggest 'exports'.

Actually, I haven't found this a problem in many (if any) of the European countries I have visited. You will see an infinitely higher number of drunk Brits on Greek islands than in Krakow, but the locals there don't seem to b*tch about it quite as much as some do on here. Likewise, I see more Poles in London than actually live in Krakow but I choose to embrace this rather than form ignorant racial stereotypes.

Definitely not only British. I've recently watched a documentary about the child sex industry in Tailand and Cambodia. They were secretly documenting an American Dr. in Cambodia, and the extremely young (5 +) being sold to mainly Americans and Brits. It's a shocking reality.

Actually its quite funny you say this because each time I've been to Poland I have heard plenty of English men, but never seen any English women...and when I was in Karlovy Vary in CZ I didnt see or hear any English people...ooooo that was nice, but quite strange...

Z, I wouldn't class this as a "sex industry" though, these are paedophiles and need locking up and the key throwing away, and as long as people in these countries turn a blind eye to it, it's going to carry on, I would imagine there is a lot of money in this line of business....laws are only a deterrent if they are implemented and it's quite evident they are not.

It is the sex industry, cos these girls are working as prostitutes and not victims of sexual abuse. They often do it by choice to raise money for their families due to extreme poverty. I have seen working girls as young as 11 or 12 in Cambodia.. and not all the punters are Brits or Americans either. Germans and other Europeans and Aussies and Kiwis also feature heavily. Anyway back to Krakow....

Paedophiles are from all nationalities not just American and British. It's just as horrific whether they are documented or not.

All sex tourism is wrong no matter what the age of the victim. Just sick men taking advantage of poverty stricken desparate women.

Well, we've established that not everyone is entitled to enjoy themselves as they wish when they go abroad. Is it not perfectly reasonable, then,to expect tourists to behave responsibly when they visit somewhere viz. not pi55ing on monuments, chundering in the streets and picking fights with locals like in Krakow?

It is this point which makes this debate so funny. I wonder whether any of the people on their high horses regarding the British abroad have ever been to London and seen the behaviour of some Poles.

The Polish have the most violent football fans in Europe. The sad thing is they idolise the British culture of the 70's/80's which has long since died out (similar to taste in jeans etc).

I propose a ban on watching Rise of the Foot Soldier and The Football Factory. Clearly a bad influence on this nation of perfect people.

I think it all stems from the drinking laws in Britain. The whole getting drunk before the last round nonsense. A trap many tourists make is drinking Polish beer like its the same back home, it usually ends up with a few of the group being totally p1ssed. Which means the whole group are labled the same and cant get into pubs or clubs. Dont get me wrong, i have not much against the stags, only when their wearing that stupid borat swim-suit! that should be banned from all countries:D
