Kurnitz or Kouna Poland?? Anyone have any info on the cities??

A friend has asked about Kurnitz and Kouna in Poland. I have found little bits on them. Could anyone help me with any info and the where abouts? Thanks!

Looks like It could be a village, which is now in Belarus and before WW2 was in Poland and was populated mostly by Jews.
