When I was little my mom would say something that sounded phoenetically like
"yitch da dumas spotch". which meant something like "get the hell out of here"
Am I remembering this correctly? I still say "yitch" to people all the time thinking it means "get away"

and your underwear were always called "gotchies"

Have you ever heard " Kto nie pije ten donosi"?Always make me laugh...so Polish!!! Which means: those who don't drink an alcohol inform for sure! :):)Hope I got it correct.....

And another one: Wędzone dłużej leży (about smokers) "Smoked things lie longer ";)Which means that smokers look better because they are better preserved! hehehe

My old man(father) and uncles used to say this to me when i was a kid and beyond...hope my polish spelling is right-----" nie udawaj greka "......which obviously means don't act a greek,...........so my question is???are greeks gypsies,or does it imply something else ???or would they have said it to me because i was a smartarse(aussie slang)know-it-all !!!

I don't know how to phrase it in Polish. Here's some advice my daddy would give me. The English translation is basically, "Curiosity killed the cat."

I learned to follow his advice throughout the years. There are generally some things in life, I don't really don't want to know about.

In polish they say 'curiosity is the first step to hell'
