On 17th of february we are starting polish classes for foreigners. Classes will be taking place at 5:00 pm each friday. We will work together to improve polish communicative skills and focus on usefull every-day words and phrases, that will help to get around in poland. If you have any problems with communicating in hospitals, work, ofiices or any instutions - feel free to come and join the classes.

The clue is in the word 'syrena' ;-)

Quite a good blog, actually.

But how many foreigners would know 'syrena' is a city? Most foreigners will probably know Warszawa, Wroclaw, Krakow, Gdansk etc
Syrena is a new one on me!!!

It isn't. It is the symbol of Poland's capital, visible throughout the city. Even to foreigners.

Ah, that's why you know what it means, because you live in Warszawa.
I refer back to my earlier post, it would be useful to know which city. It wouldn't have been difficult to add 'Warszawa' as part of the post subject.
For foreigners, Poland is much more than Warszawa!

For foreigners (even out in the provinces) a quick glance at a guide book - especially the pages on the country's capital - would be a pretty good idea. Some would say essential. A click on the link provided would equally be useful for those interested.

For the record, this actually sounds a good idea. One danger is that they'll get a real mix of levels turning up though.
