Is it wrong that I read this in my mind with a Russian accent?

I think that 'speaking' isn't the problem for learners of Polish. But being understood, without the muffled chuckles in the background is. I ordered a latte yesterday, I got given a snack wrap.

Apparently, "Dzień dobry, poproszę na wynos dwie raz latte" equated to "Poproszę na miejscu jeden snack wrap" in their ear.

Why is that? Is Russian your native language?

The person who served you was simply not paying attention I think.

lol, I can sympathise :)

That reminds me of a cafe full of Polish staff I used to frequent. They weren't allowed to speak Polish if customers were around, but I knew that they sneakily did so. I'd never let on that I knew the language. It was a hot day, so I ordered an "Iced Latte". The coffee arrived quickly, but without ice and it was not cold - just a room temperature (probably about 32 degrees on that day, lol).

So I told the girl that this was not an iced latte. She replied "it is cold coffee". So I said no, it's a cool coffee, not a cold coffee, and definitely not an iced coffee. Cue further exchanges about aforementioned coffee. So I decided that it was time to explain in Polish exactly what a "latte mrożona" is, and why this was not one.

I got my ice :D

Nice one, Sid :) I liked the story :)

Ewa, how much experience do you have? What drives you to teach?

What drives you to teach?

More importantly, where will you drive to teach? :->
Do you know of anyone in the Lubin/Chojnów/Polkowice area willing to do one on one instructions for a couple of hours once a week or so?
And how much would it cost?

Sorry, Jimmu, I don't know anyone in that area :( Learning Polish is a challenge and life isn't just about hedonism ;)
