Learn Polish Coursebook: Beginning Polish v1

Hey everyone.

I've got a fair amount of polish materials already, but I feel I need something more structured - and since I'm unable to access "real" lessons, I'm stuck with books, audio and the internet. I came across the book in the link below, on various websites, and it seems to be recommended. I'm thinking about purchasing it at Christmas time, I was just curious if anyone else on this forum has purchased or received this book, and what your thoughts about it are?

amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0300016530/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding= UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Dziêkujê bardzo, Callum.

Yes, I know it well. It is an old American book written about 1966. The teacher was a teacher of Polish who put together all the lessons after giving Polish lessons in the classroom and that is what in effect, this book is based on. There were originally two volumes, there is a number 2 as well, which described grammar. Are you going to buy tapes that go with it? I would have thought that you would find that difficult to do now after such a long time. I would have thought that this book would be out of print for many years. Teacher Polish grammar through little exercises. On the whole, a very good book indeed.

Thank you for the review Michal :) very grateful

Hmm, I don't plan to get hold of the tapes - because I found the audio for the books online :) so I've saved myself some hassle and money!

Thanks again Michal, and I'm open to any other comments people have about the book

It is interesting to know that you can find the audio on line. What about book number 2? Is there audio for that too?

Well, I read that book 2 is for classroom use only - so I won't bother with that. Regarding the audio for it though, I'm not sure if the link I have has the audio for it. It has ones titled "drills" and then ones titled "lessons", so I'd assume the drills are the second book, lesson are the 1st.

If anyone has the books, but not the audio, a simple google search'll find it - "beginning polish" it's a little down the page -- not posting the link incase i get busted for copyright violation or some rubbish lol

Pa!
