Let's read the Gospel in Polish

A friend of mine, an American women, is a Jesus freak. She is unbelievably nice but we need to ask her to stop taking about Jesus like a mad women from time to time. She understands it and is never offended when we laugh at her

She learns Polish and it was a natural idea that I would read the Gospel for her.

I believe that reading the Gospel can help to learn the language because most of us have an Christian background and all those stories are kind of present in our minds.

The Good News was also my very first book in English I ever read. I did it not for any religious reason (I'm not even a Christian anymore. I converted to Buddhism at the age of 13) but just for the simplicity and clarity of the imaginations.

Still the project is a little bit creepy and as I don't get any acclaim for it so I will probably stop it in a while.

There is nothing creepy about this- I love it. One of the few things I can say off the top of my head is John 3:16:

Poniewa¼ Bóg tak ¶wiat kocha³, ¿e da³ swego syna jedynego, aby kto wierzy w Niego nie zgin±³, lecz ¿y³ wiecznie.

For God so loved the world that he gaveth his only begotten son, that whosoever beleiveth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

You may not get anything out of this, but I like the sound of Polish, and hearing the Bible in Polish reminds me of when my family went to a Polish-Catholic church as a child, and I sometimes had to hear parts of the mass in Polish. It brings back old memories.

I like this.

I can concentrate on one verse at a time, check vocabulary and check the English version, all at the same time.
