there are no offers like 1 kilo salami one euro

Pity. I'd be the first one to buy it.

Third communism produced slim people due to state control calory intake.

Second Poland does not have cheap food unlike in America where they want to make you eat as much as possible to make you buy the most food you can eat.

this is not entirely correct, there is no shortage of cheap junk food in Poland. But because many Poles cant afford cars they are forced to run after buses and trams (they often do not wait for you even if they see you running for the door) they burn off excess calories. Also there are many flats on second, tthird, and even fourth floors with no elevator service so many Poles have a daily stair-master workout.

First of all Poland has no Blacks or Latinos who are the fatter on average

?? According to the link displayed by jwojcie, there is a higher prevalence of fat men in the USA than in any country of Latin America or Africa. So it not the race that make people fat, it is the US lifestyle..

Third communism produced slim people due to state control calory intake.

Nonsense.. Spaniards or French are thinner on average than Poles or Czechs.. And there are fewer fat people in countries such as Luxembourg, Scandinavia et al that are richer per capita than the US..

I first went to Poland in 1993. One of the most striking things I noticed was "no fatties". Where do they put them all? I thought.

Eating habits, wealth level, social conditioning, more natural exercise and other factors combined into a more active lifestyle all contribute to this.

Unfortunately, these days you see the youngsters (10-15 year olds) on their mountain bikes sitting outside the local shops chugging down bottles of coke and eating packets of crisps (chips if you do US English). When you go to the beach or the swimming pool, you see the curse of the modern "up and coming wealthy" nation, which is...

FAT CHILDREN.

Makes you want to cry. When this generation has children of their own, the difference will have been eliminated by big businesses like Coca Cola, Lays and all the other multinationals - including the computer and video games makers.

It's so sad. It's one of the few things I used to think that Poland had got right. If they were to immediately ban advertising to children (as Sweden) it might not yet be too late. But I fear it is.

sweden has a mature enough citizenry and political system where they can get away with banning ads for kids. In Poland they can't even get around to banning the giant billboards that block sunlight in people's flats (the problem gets press here but the politicians still refuse to do anything about it). Poland is too susceptible to payola. Too bad.

Polish people are not fat compared to people in Western Europe and USA. But the number of fat people increase, even if it's still uncommon.

the population is definitely getting chubbier-you can see it in the coming crop of kids. but on average nowhere near the waistline tragedy that is the US (especially rural and southern regions).

I can't agree with you more! It's true that nowadays more and more polish people tend to "dine" in fast food bar and restaurants. However, we're still slim, especially the part of the society of 15-35 year-olds.

Americans probably have worse teeth.

is this a joke?

in general, the avg. polish man/woman under the age of 25 seems to be thinner in Poland, but it's merely lifestyle, not the food. have you taken a look at Polish food lately? everything is with bread, butter, fried, lots of meat and potatoes....hardly weight-loss food, and most Polish people eat it. the "other" food is too expensive.

in America, you can choose to be thin or fat, and eat all different kinds of food for around the same price, a big difference between America and Poland. also, there are over 300 million people in America, meaning if 20% of the population is fat, that's larger than the entire population of Poland, so fat people simply appear more in the media due to the sheer number (and size, haha) of their fat asses.

getting back to lifestyle: in America, once you are of driving age, you get a car. everyone in America works once they're 16-17 years old....owning a car is a necessity, not a luxury. in Poland, most people don't get their first car till they are at least 26-27 adn don't get their first job till they're finished with their "master's", so they all walk everywhere till they can finally afford an old used car.

The American infrastructure is set up to be fast and convenient. If you want to exercise, that's also easily accessed and readily available. some decide to exercise, some don't, but for the ones that don't, because of the infrastructure, the American will tend to be fatter simply due to less movement.

Also worth noting, when i'm in America, regardless of what city, you see runners and cyclists EVERYWHERE. In Poland, they're few and far between, especially amongst the older residents.

something I love about Polish culture if I may add is the number of times I hear, "i was in the mountains this weekend." outdoor people are OK in my eyes. they really have an appreciation for forests, trees, mountains, etc., and it seems to be countrywide.

... there is a higher prevalence of fat men in the USA than in any country of Latin America or Africa. So it not the race that make people fat, it is the US lifestyle..

The current economic crisis in the USA is not without its physical manifestations. For just as the American’s budget contains blubber, so does the American himself. Department of Health statistics reveal that close to 70% of Americans are overweight, with 33% being so overweight that they are categorized as obese. Obese is the polite word for 'pig.' One out of every three Americans is a pig. Too much blubber, ladies and gentlemen, too much blubber.

Americans eat more than they need, plain and simple. And, astonishingly, the consequences are now being felt literally throughout the planet – for the collective blubber of the American people is at a weight that is now causing stress upon the earth’s crust. The surface land mass of the continental United State is actually sagging into the earth’s lithosphere, thereby causing severe convergences of tectonic plates. Not only is this responsible for the rise of earthquakes in the United States in the past decade, but also of those worldwide. This is because the slippage of the faults under the U.S. surface area is so great that the effects extend to the continental plates under all of North America. This, in turn, puts pressure on the plates of South America, which, in turn, put pressure on the plates under Australia, and so on.

In short, the blubber of America has caused an earthquake domino effect that has reordered the tectonic plates of the entire planet. Thus we see an unprecedented rise in earthquakes worldwide. Every mouthful of food that the American pig shovels into his or her mouth pushes the entire world closer to the catastrophe of a magnitude 10 quake. Millions will die as the result of the one American pig eating the one potato chip that will actually break the continental plate’s back.

Hahahaha....coincidentally, I just had my first Whopper in what must be 10 years, for lunch today.
It truly was a treat. It's all about moderation, like, uh.......every 10 years.

Who cares what you look like! freedom of expression. In Poland people are very self-concious of what others say about them, but who cares? The world will end in two years anyway and everybody will die, so why not pig out and be happy!

Who cares what you look like!

Generally, members of the opposite sex. But if you are past reproductive age, then nobody really.

You're right though - it shouldn't matter (but it does).

The current economic crisis in the USA is not without its physical manifestations. For just as the American's budget contains blubber, so does the American himself.

Translation- Polish nut job taking a crap.

I have detailed for you, in the form of the rise in earthquakes, just one of the many, many environmental disasters caused by the gross obesity and uncontrolled appetites of Americans. This then, the uncontrolled appetites of the Americans, is the beginning of the worldwide blubber crisis. But there is an even more alarming consequence of the swinish American character than the environmental ruin that I have just cataloged. For the American blubber mass is also a moral abomination. No longer able to be classified as human, these Americans must now be branded as pigs, inasmuch as they have given themselves over to the most reprehensible practices.

We see in the female pig, or in the fat blubberous American woman, a disturbing tendency toward the physical torture of children. Otis Harrel's study of child care workers showed that 73% of all full-time American babysitters are obese women - note: we are not talking of teenage girls who work part-time for movie and chewing gum money, but the terminally obese female pigs who, because of their repellent physical characteristics, are unable to secure full-time employment in the public sector, and must therefore turn to full-time child care work where their fat bodies can be safely hidden from the public's view behind the locked doors of the homes of families with working parents or in day care centers. These ugly female endless eaters have been naturally selected to be shunted away from decent society.

Unfortunately, the only position left available is child care. In a tragedy beyond compare, these hideous cellulite nannies are the absolute worst surrogates to care for our children. Harrel's study has shown that female pigs, when exposed to healthy thin children, begin to experience feelings of intense self-loathing. This self-loathing is then projected, via the fatty's ego defense mechanism, onto the innocent thin child. Harrel has documented the findings with over 500 hours of video tape of child torture. Dozens of families and commercial child care institutions allowed Harrel to install video surveillance equipment in their homes and day care centers. The results are truly horrific, ladies and gentlemen: 200-300 pound greasy haired female pigs victimizing thin children, screaming the most profane epithets imaginable, while slapping, punching, scratching, and clawing at the innocent thin. Worse yet, some attack the normal youths with scissors, needles, forks, knives, even the children's own toys. One 260-pound behemoth live-in nanny was even caught on tape loading a pretty 35-pound girl into a clothes dryer. How do they get away with this? By threatening the children with death if they dare tell their parents. 'You skinny little rat, if you tell your mother, I'll cut you into bite-size pieces and cook you and eat you,' we hear one massive sitter growl.

The American female pig's cannibalistic lust has an interesting parallel in Nazi Germany. A little reported fact is that the second most blubberous nation on record in human history is Nazi Germany. And even in that loathsome society, where men eagerly volunteered to commit the most heinous atrocities, still, when it came to the mass extermination of Jewish, Slavic, and handicapped children, only overweight Frauleins could be moved to operate the crematoria. This ugly fact is documented in Heinrich Zifftag's "Hansel and Gretel as Fact: Obese Women in Nazi Germany."

In Poland you don't see large females in the streets of Poland because they'd be naked, as shops only sell clothes which an anorexic barbie doll wouldn't fit into. Also the clothes are too small for normal people, so Polish girls have to reveal their midrifts and buttock cleavages all year round.

Now with all them tourists in Poland you don't know which fat person is Polish and which one is not. To be accurate, you have to come up to each person and ask if they are indeed Polish. They might be German or Swedish or even American, but you won't know for sure untill you ask.

That's my advise
