Not possible to find a Hardware/DIY store near Mokotów, Warszawa? (Warsaw district)

Hi all,

I'm trying to find a DIY store within biking distance from Mokotów and so far the closest seems to be OBI in the South which is 23 minutes by bike.

I find it hard to believe that there's nowhere close I can go to buy some screws - in my home country Belgium there's several hardware stores within 10 min biking. Is this a cultural thing? :)

Now I know that my destination is Belgium ;)

In return we have a lot of boutiques, pharmacies and perfume shops with preservatives for women. If parachute from a plane in a pitch black night and after landing you can see at least three pharmacies, you are in Poland.

Uncle Google says there are hardware stores in the Mokotów area: 1) ul. Modzelewskiego 58a 2) Bartycka 24/26 and 3) Puławska 74 / 10

Thank you kindly! Uncle Google wasn't very forthcoming to me...

I ended up taking the subway to Leroy Merlin in Arkadia which, though really far, was the least total travel time for me.

On the plus side, I got some screws that would have easily cost me 8Zł in Belgium for 0.40... so 20x cheaper :-) I had never bought screws by weight before, neat!

(Apologies for the delay in answering)

Seems like you enjoy creating work for yourself... Have you tried asking your neighbour/local store/etc in the first place? Some local places would be too small/old fashion to pay to advertise on google.

Hi Jardinero,

I did ask some locals, and one told me to go to RTV (seriously) and another told me to go to OBI. Googling around for OBI then led me to PolishForums where I found out about Leroy Merlin and some old threads about hardware stores, after which I decided to ask here.

BTW, Google doesn't hide hits simply because a shop isn't paying Google. Google shows you ads related to your search, as well as your search results. Thus you can search for something and get an ad for brand A and a regular search result for competing brand B.

Big screws or little screws?

If it's little ones, try the electronics market in the subways (there are two parallel to each other; one is more computer and the other more general) at the top of Pole Mokotowskie, near the GUS tram/bus stops)

jon357, wow, I have to check those out, thanks!

That's true, I was a bit surprised at the breadth of subjects covered by the little shops in the Centrum station and subway halls. You can buy kinky underwear and get it monogrammed all without leaving the station :)

I find this very funny. Any local will know the local stores - unless the aliens who inhabit the osiedle zamknięte, but they are a breed apart.

They say that Leroy is the most expensive one.

I would like to see your face in PSB store: secure.grupapsb.com.pl (30x cheaper)

;)
