Karta Pobytu - Is the plastic card only given to non-EU people?

Hello,

I am living now for over a year in Poland and I also got a karta pobytu and I am coming from Germany
and everywhere where I am going to like a bank, Orange, Plus, Play they are asking me for my
Karta Pobytu in a plastic card form but I do not have that. I only got a simple, printed paper karta
pobytu. Is it true that the plastic card is only given to non-EU people?

I hope someone can clarify it.

Melanie.

I have the same with a printed paper, no card. There should however not be any differences besides a card being more convenient

But I would also like to know if you can actually get a card instead.

That is indeed the case, I asked in the office when I got mine about it being rejected because there is no photographic evidence on it. They gave me a small sheet of paper I can bring along with it explaining that it is a legal document and it must be accepted as such. I have never had a problem with it being accepted, but I always carry the legal sheet with the Karta Ponytu just in case.

But yes, a photo card would be much more convenient.

A permanent residence CARD for eu citizens is possible since april 2014.It's called dokument potwierdzajacy prawo stalego pobytu.

I went through the process earlier this year to get the plastic card- i was informed (reliably it seems) that after 5 years of living permanently in Poland, or being married, that it is available. I lived here for 5 years before I set the wheels in motion- I needed to go to my local Urzad Wojewodztwo (for me Katowice), with my paper residency, 'straight ahead looking' photos, and my passport (british citizen). They made me fill in the various forms, multiple stamps etc ;) and then it all gets sent to Warsaw. 6-8 weeks later they called to tell me to pick it up...

Amazingly the entire service was totally free, and stress-free also. Although having a plastic card doesnt appear to change much in an EU expat's life, it made me feel more permanent!

Hope this helps..

I have this since a few years, but it is a salmon-pink piece of paper - strongly resembles the first page of a passport. Definitely no plastic card.

Anyway, I intend to check it out at DÅ‚uga 5 here in Warsaw next week.

I have the passport-like piece of paper too .... Would be very interested in changing it to something small and sturdy.
