Long Stay Proof of Income with an application to support myself in Poland

I am retired and married to a Polish citizen. Based on the current exchange rates my monthly retirement benefit in the US is 5800pln a month. This money would be deposited in my Polish bank account. I don't need to pay rent as I own an apartment in the Krakow city center. Is that figure enough to show the government that I can support myself or should I include other assets with my long stay application.

Since I understand all documents have to be translated into Polish, I'd like to not pay for extra translations if I do not need them.

Thanks

Don't be so greedy, you can afford it. 5800 zł is 2x more than average Polish salary and only 20% of Poles earn average salary in this poor country.

That figure would be more than enough. Better though to produce a document saying you have a pension rather than actually deposit it in a Polish bank. You should consider depositing it offshore and you should take tax advice on this in order that your pension is not eaten into.

As for translation, you should maybe ask the immigration dept exactly what they require.

Absolutely. Consult a local accountant before you end up discovering that you owe tons of taxes in Poland.

Thanks for the replies. I will check with an accountant but taxes are removed from my funds in the US before I get them.

Are you Polish will also tax the same funds?

There is a risk so you better check and have a look at the double treaty between US and Poland (should be available online). The normal rule is that when resident in Poland you are taxed on worldwide income and assets, although there are many exceptions.
