Where's the best place to buy pepper spray in Poland?
Like is it ok to buy it from a website or is it likely that they cops'll seize it when it gets posted?
Those military shops, do they sell it?

There are no restrictions on its sale as far as I am aware. I do, however, recommend freshly ground pepper.

It'll be used if it's needed.
Some knacker followed my missus today when she was out walking the hound, freaked her right out so want to get some for her.

You're going to buy it as an animal repellent, aren't you? That's legal.

Humm the problem with that is you cant very well test it either. A friend of mine pulled his pepper spray on a guy that crashed his Porsche - pulled it out, aimed at the face and sprayed, and then........nothing happened.

I picked up a couple of cans in a military style shop in Wroclaw.

Merged: Is pepper spray/mace/ or a mini crossbow legal in poland?

Since I cant get a self defense firearm in POland is it legal for me to carry a pepper spray/mace or a small mini crossbow legal to carry in poland for self defense?Or an taser as its illegal in some states in the usa?

is it legal for me to carry a pepper spray/

According to Wiki yes:

or a small mini crossbow legal to carry in poland for self defense

It's classified as a firearm:

I would imagine tasers would be illegal.
I can only wonder why you feel the need to carry any of these? Poland is not the US and it's not common for people to walk round carrying items such as these, as is the case for the rest of Europe too.

Sorry, but I really don't get why Americans feel the need to be armed wherever they go. I doubt anything is going to happen to you in Poland that warrants walking around with a crossbow or taser.

Pepper spray is over rated yet better then nothing especially for women.

I picked up a couple of cans in a military style shop in Wroclaw.

If I felt so insecure I would just pick up a can of wasp & hornet spray that shoots 30 feet.
Instantly blind your perp. with swelling his/her throat shut, ONLY in a life threatening situation however.
Totally legal to carry I would guess or keep handy at your front door.

Your guess would not necessarily be correct in the UK. I am not a Pole and I don't know Polish law. However, I do know that in certain circumstances in some countries the carrying of the article you mentioned would be construed as an offensive weapon. The fact that the can label reads fly spray is not a get out of jail card.

You can find this info in many places, but it's quite clear here (I have no connection to the source whatsoever)

The term 'offensive weapon' is defined as: "any article made or adapted for use to causing injury to the person, or intended by the person having it with him for such use".
Offensive weapons fall into three categories:
·Those made for causing injury to the person. These include: machetes. . .
·Those adapted for such a purpose
·Those not so made or adapted, but carried with the intention of causing injury to the person (this definition offers much broader scope to include items which do have an innocent purpose but are carried with the intent to use them as an offensive weapon)

Keep in mind, you need to learn how to use it first or else you might end up blinding yourself. It does work, but it's unreliable because it's at the whim of the wind, unlike CS. I think it's fine to carry, as long as you know how to use it, but keep in mind, if the person you use it on does not have bad intentions...JAIL!

Ofcourse, but I will not go down without putting up,once a guy kicked my parked car with foreign plates on pulaska street, when i got out with an tyre tool(which I keep under passenger seat) he took off and left a dent on car next time if anything like this ill make sure i get him.

Oh Lord ! No wonder guns are out lawed over there.
No, you don't get to use deadly force if someone dents your car.
Deadly force is if someone is raping your wife, kidnapping your child or
threatening your life. ONLY !

Keep in mind, you need to learn how to use it first

Very good point.
When using mace for example, the correct way is to spray it on the perps chest so the fumes
from it continue to come up to be breathed and irritate the eyes.

lol u mean when the crime is in process?calm down put yourself in a car and someone is cursing and kicking your parked car with you sitting in it?wont you feel threatened? if the guy breaks the window and hits you with something?or you will just sit in there and wait for your OH LORD*?

I will get out and confront the person, and before doing that have something to protect me incase he has something?I cenrtainly will not attack until I am absolutely under threat for my life.

BTW guns dont kill, people kill, and it can be done with a stone on the street also.

The first thing I would do is call 911 or in ENGLAND 119 I think.
Yea England, I did'nt stutter.

wont you feel threatened?

I have been in worse situations and survived without killing anyone.

the guy breaks the window and hits you with something?

Is this what happened to you ? Some guy for no reason attacked you ?

or you will just sit in there and wait for your OH LORD*?

Yeah, that is what I pay insurance premiums for.

I cenrtainly will not attack until I am absolutely under threat for my life.

By then you most likely will be dead if he wants you dead.

BTW guns dont kill,people kill,

Yea, stupid people that should not have access to a gun.

I will too in poland where they wont understand english,by the time english speaker operator comes situation will be worse.

I have been in worse situations and survived without killing anyone.

I will not take chances but react accordingly.

Is this what happened to you ? Some guy for no reason attacked you ?

NO he didnt,he just kicked my car in the front cursing maybe cuz it had american plates and i was parked with blinkers on,normally.

Yeah, that is what I pay insurance premiums for.

I donot to begin with as they would only give me liability, anyway even if I had i will not wait for Oh LORD! to come and help me.

By then you most likely will be dead if he wants you dead.

I doubt cuz I will do something before I die.

Yea, stupid people that should not have access to a gun.

Thats why they check criminal records before issuing a gun license or a shotgun permit,in America, and some firearms are to be used for sports.Just like alcohol is suppose to be used for fun not to be an alcoholic and do stupid things.

You have never been in a life or death situation have you ?
It doesn't work that way.
If someone premeditates wanting you dead, most likely you will be dead without you having much to do about it.

Thats why they check criminal records before issuing a gun license or a shotgun permit,

Criminals or unstable people do not need a criminal record check or a license to get a gun.
I have never heard of such a thing as a shotgun permit.
Here in the U.S. you can legally buy a shotgun out of a newspaper ad for cash.
What country do you live in ? England ?

Nope, and I hope not to be in one but if I will be and have access to anything that saves my life I will not blink a moment to use it may it be a butter knife.

or in ENGLAND 119 I think.

Well, that would probably put you through to something like Yellow Pages. for the UK, it's 999 for all emergency services, and you'll be asked which service you want, ie police, ambulance, fire or lifeguard. 112 (not 119) also gets you through to the emergency operator. (119 is for Japan & Korea primarily)

So this incident has sparked your merged thread on if pepper spray, crossbows and tasers are legal to use in Poland?
Nothing serious and life threatening has actually happened to you?
I just don't get it.
What do you think is going to happen to you?
Last time I was in Poland a guy tried to snatch my bag in Zamość of all places. I was a bit shocked, but managed to get away from him.

I certainly wouldn't have had time to use any of those ' deterrents ' on him. And I know I was just unlucky as nothing like that has ever happened to me before.

It doesn't make me want to arm myself with anything next time I go back to Poland as I know it was just a one off incident.

The chances of you being in a life threatening situation on the streets of Poland are low, it's quite a safe country.

So if you get unlucky again when some thugs want to rape you?

So you do admit that the chances to get jumped upon are there?:)I do agree Poland is a relatively safe country though.

So if you get unlucky again when some thugs want to rape you?

Yes I could be unlucky and be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I'm not going to live in fear every time I go on holiday or I would never set foot outside my hotel. Or equally my own front door.

Yes, sometimes bad things do happen to people but I also think it's a sad state of affairs that you feel you must be armed with some sort of weapon to go about your daily business. The chances are still low that something serious will happen to you.

So you do admit that the chances to get jumped upon are there?:)

Of course there's a chance you could be jumped on/attacked, but Poland is hardly Afghanistan is it? The vast majority of people get on with their daily lives without even thinking about arming themselves with weapons.

I do agree Poland is a relatively safe country though.

So chill and stop living in fear :)

Why are you trying to convince me to let my guard down? because you have yours down? Please dont preach me.

So chill and stop living in fear :)

Again I am not living in fear I am being defensive, again read up what I typed so stop preaching also I have the right to encourage people like yourself to carry something, but I dont. Its my free will and you have yours :)

Hey Pigsy, back off.
You are being a ding-a-ling.
Pam was just being as candid as she could to be frank with you.
Why the pi$$ing contest ?

Why are you trying to convince me to let my guard down?

Where did you come up with that ? Have you been drinking ?
Carry the weapon of your choice but I am telling you that someone that knows what they
are doing can jam a #2 pencil thru your jugular before you could blink.
I think your ethnic back ground and surroundings may have something to do with your paranoia.
Poland is far from the enviroment that New Jersey has to offer.
The only thing to fear is fear itself.
