How could things have gone so wrong (Poland church dress code)

All the while, 2 pews across from me was sat a woman who I can only describe as being dressed like a S**t, as the weather dictated. She, as can be predicted, didnt receive the same reception as myself.

they should have been put off by her, but in fact they werent, they were put off by me. Maybe my legs are sexier than I originally thought

What do you know about the way the girl had been greeted if she had entered the church before you?

Human being express himself in many ways, one of which is a way he/she dresses. Expecting proper dress from people attending mass is only understandable, if somebody doesn't like it I can say only one thing - nobody is forcing you to go there, but if you do - pay respect and dress properly.
Content express itself also in Form.

The Pharisees believed this, during times of fasting they would paint their faces white to show everyone they fast. Christ heavily criticised this. Did he have a right to do it??? Christ didnt like it and he spoke out about it. Nobody forced Christ to teach against the Pharisees, he chose to do it.

Before some of you dimwits accuse me comparing myself to Christ, read the above post carefully 2 or 3 time if you need to.

It doesn't have to do anything with the faith.

But with social rules - yes.

:):):) Cool off, man. Nobody is accusing you of that.

Cos she was the wife of one of the more famous paritioners that go to this certain Church in Sopot. Everyonw shook her hand after the service while everyone commented to me, so much so that my wife had to tell them to be men and say it to my face

I agree with you, welshguyinpola, more than you think. And it is great that you pointed this out. Christ made it about our spiritual life, whereas in the Old Testament and XXI century Testament it seems revolving around the same primitive material notions of dress code.

What rules? Who is implementing them? I never heard a priest complain when someone in 'his' church was 'not dressed like it is supposed to be'. That is complete nonsense.

Christ on a bike...all HIS work is in vain because you woke up in a grumpy arsed mood, wore shorts to church and a few old bids told you off....talk about delusions of granduar.

Would you wear shorts to Chapel? Or is this part of some rebelion against the RCC?

A priest should guide people to the truth or provide them with the means to discover it for themselves. They are not above people nor are they more Holy than anyone else.

If you wish to confess your sins to god, who do you go to?
If you wish to be married under God, who will conduct the service?

God sees us all as equals, although priests are God's men. They have given their lives for Him and so they belong to Him and Him alone. In this respect they are closer to god. Priests are not there guide people to the truth, this is your own responsibility to find the truth and follow the decalogue.

Always did in the summer in Wales and it is not a rebellion against the RCC, its an issue about what has happened to the Church and its followers

Oh, I agree about its followers, and Im often in here slagging off the corruption of the early christian message, but ,saying that,Id never dream of going to anyones place of worship in shorts.

What is sometimes acceptable in one country is deemed unacceptable in another, therefore we follow protocol in the country we are guests in. I consider that basic rule 1.

It all sounds more and more puzzling. Why have you been keeping it secret so far? :):):)

Are you going to tell us what kind of a tatoo you are wearing on your leg? Isn`t it an image of a nude rabbit?

And dont pull false piety,Judge not lest ye be judged, you shouldnt have noticed or commented on the dress of anyone else. Would JC have called someone sluty for their dress?

I wished to be married under God, the all-seeing! (who is all around me). I went to the Civil Registry :)

Given their lives? They got an Alfa Romeo and job security which is more than many people have :)

If I wished to confess my sins, I would pray by speaking to the One who will listen. He listens wherever I am :)

Jesus gave his life for US. He died for us all.

What does this have to do with shorts or long shorts or very long shorts, aka trousers?

Firstly, if I wish to confess my sins, I get down on my knees and speak directly to Christ. i dont need a man to tell me whether or not my sins are forgiven after Ive made a financial contribution.

Someone who is saved (and I dont just mean a believer) will end up in the same place as a Priest when they die (unkless the Priest is a child abuser in which case he will rot in hell - yep God's man alright).

You know what 'Priests' are called in the protestant church, 'pastors', or 'preachers' who advocate going back to basics, ie prayer and Bible study in order to focus on the path to God. The images and dogma pf the Catholic Church are just a big distraction

They all knew I was foreign, cos I didnt do any of the rediculous cross signs, and the up and down like a yo yo part. I didnt say their prayers either. I think it was the fact that I didnt join in coupled with the fact that I was wearing the shorts. I silently prayed to myelf though, even if it was to ask God that the priest's ogloszenie part didnt drag on too long :-)

I'm merely commenting on the digressions that have been allowed. I've made it a point of mine now to try and bring it all back on course.

He may listen, only a priest can give absolution which is an integral part of the sacrament of penance.

Good point it is a job, a job that requires a lot of commitment and dedication. As with any job you get rewards and benefits, would you prefer they walk bare foot or cycle everywhere.

No problems with shorts in churches around my place ; o
It's actually quite weird to me. Church ain't a night club to have some kind of fency dress code, ppl from all walks of life can enter and pray.

I'd say it could have been individual thing of these older ladies you mentioned.

I see. What else are you hiding before us? What about this tatoo on your leg? Is it this:?

Polish man leg tattoo

or this?

By whose authority????? Please refer me to the Biblical passage???

during the time we commemorate the death of our Lord Jesus, all people are concerned about is whether my legs are covered

:-)

Jesus came to preach against the practices of the Pharisees, who just cared about how they looked in the eyes of other worshippers. It seems the Pharisees are back.

:-)

Fair point by warszawski, that's true! However, what is striking for me is how Welshie wouldn't know about it when he is so well versed in such matters.

NIV, 1 Timothy 2:9-10)

NIV, 1 Peter 3:2-5)

I wonder if anyone knows the above verses :) :)

NIV, Deuteronomy 22:5, this one too :)

Barefoot or cycle, warsz? You are referring to practicality, yes?

There must be more to this story.
Ive been in Polish churches, not done any of the crossy things or bobbing up and down. I was even the only one sat bolt upright in the pews during prayers. I still felt warmly welcomed despite my obvious non catholic status............maybe its because I looked like i could be arsed to be there and hadnt got dressed in the dark.
