Poles - the Nation of Liars?

there are issues I have to endore which drive me positively nuts!!

then you should have started your thread with that line..

Polish issues that drive me nuts.. the thread is a open invitation for argument
because your accusing poles of being liars..

I can say that I honestly dont know. I cant comment on the rest, but my cousins
live there and one thing she did mention was the health care issues.. shes up in
age so I can see where concern is when it comes to needing medical attention and
how far it is taken before someone actually administers care..

and Im not saying all doctors are like this, after all I am sure they teach ethics and
how doctors should act vs real life and what goes on behind the scenes.. its sad
that this does occur.

Here we go Slick:

Fortune? For instance: Why do some british come to Poland to get their teeth fixed? Is it because this service is so expensive? The point is that YOU as a wealthy british subject did not/do not have to bribe anybody unless you have chosen to do so.

Dental treatment is expensive in any country just a little less expensive in Poland. As you stated in a previous post you dont need to bribe any medical persons in the private sector.

Of course, corruption is everywhere, but it doesn't mean you can call entire nation liars because SOME doctors are corrupt.

Not the case at all, bribes are taken in all sectors including governamt. I did it!

That's because Polish law is different than british. If you do not like the Polish law, why can't you move out of Poland and go back to Britain where everything seems perfect and you wouldn't have to suffer under the oppression of Polish law anymore.

I'll be gone soon enough as soon as I take what i'm owed... 1,000.000 PLN maybe?

Just because other countries don't do it, doesn't mean we shouldn't be doing it.

True but one day hopefully withn the next five years you will learn.

The whole point of your post was to prove that Poland is a corrupt country and Poles are liars. Now, you are telling me that some procedures that were clearly established to prevent manipulation and corruption are "no good" and should be abandoned because other countries don't have this kind of procedure. This makes no sense.

Yup, youre damn right. Follow suite its the EU way, communism is gone now its OK you can move on.

It just means this procedure should be changed. It does not prove your point that Poland is corrupt and Poles are liars.

Absolutely, hey menn and how long?

then you should have started your thread with that line..

A Ha, yes but i just got back from a meeting with a bunch of lying Polish People. had it been any thing different then maybe the thread would have been different.

Dont worry the next one will be hopefully - Poles my best friends - or maybe - Poles the best cooks in the World!!

We shall see.

they do lie though

they do lie though

So do British people. Maybe the difference is Polish people don't do it very well but British people have had more practise at it and you can't tell as well, that they are lying ?

My point is most member's of the human race lie at some point in their life, what the heck has Race got to do with it......huh !

I'm not being defensive. In his original post (and his other posts too) WroclawBoy made a lot of unfair generalizations. I just wanted to to point that out.

I have to agree there.

Good for her.....now, if she could only figure out how to stop you from posting on PF....

*chuckles*

I think you mean: that is really pretty.

If it saves one life i suppose it is worth it. just seems a bit silly to have lights on in blazing sunshine and 30 degrees.

We have the same regulation in Ontario, and I find it useful and I think it makes everybody safer. Some vehicles merge with the background easier than others, so sometimes you may see them when it's too late.

Now, what do headlights have to do with lying again?

i'm wondering what cross section of polish people wroclaw boy is frequenting among and in which areas of the country. Maybe it's just the kind of people he does business with, or maybe there's something about him that inspires people to lie, perhaps. Let's all lie to wroclaw boy whether we are polish or not, perhaps he'll change his tune. Hey wroclaw boy, i'm a 3 time olympian bobsled champion!

I know It would be great to buy land when there is 11% unemployment and earnings are still much lower than in other EU countries, so maybe I understand your flustration ... but we are really sory ;))) this busineess is for Poles, we negociated it with EU so it is OK your gov agreed ...

great point!

- Wroclaw Boy appears to me a kind of chauvinistic Brit. He defends his nationalistic convictions by putting down the Poles. It's unfortunate indeed. (Many other folks from so-called Western Europe seem to function exactly the same - the relict of the Cold War stereotyping and hate propaganda, still carried on by many media psychopaths). Now, it's a fact that there are many Brits who treat fairly Polish people residing in Britain, but there are also scores of those who dupe them and exploit without mercy, not to mention crude insults, beatings, and killings. There are countless press reports in Poland and statements by Poles on Polish chat sites about this. Should we Poles, therefore, assume that ALL Brits, or even the majority of them, are nation of liars, exploiters, racists and killers? Of course not. By the way, are any Brits residing in Poland treated even one thousandth as bad as some Poles residing in Britain?

Sorry folks but the Poles are a Nation of liars

Having lived here for 5 years i have to agree with Wroclaw Boy, seems to me that in Poland it is seen as a weakness to admit you were wrong or say sorry and so people just lie to cover up.

Puzzler posted some very good points, i am waiting for the reply.

i don't know about that one being only specific to poles. There's been some forum debates where i've been tenacious with my points. Now although I am right (of course right?), those people i was debating points with kept up their futile arguements. My point being that if i had been more diplomatic then my counterparts may have been less defensive. your experiences are largely your doing.

For sure it's not just a Polish trait, but having lived and worked elsewhere and then moved to Poland I've found the level of dishonesty and lying here quite phenomenal, mainly when you have to deal with a stranger.

Some of the other threads suggest that it happens with business deals.

well i guess i really can't argue with your experiences now can i. I am curious though and i hope you won't mind my asking where you stayed. hmmm, maybe i've just come to accept things, maybe i'm the one with blinders on, hmmmm.

Yes I lost a lot of money in a business deal, I never imagined the lengths someone would go to con you and yet tell you to your face they had done nothing wrong.

I know of one unfortunate expat who's Polish business partner gave him a large pile of papers that he had to sign, as he didn't speak Polish he didn't notice that one of the papers slipped in was to relinquish his half of the business for nothing. He signed it not realising and when he came to work the next day he was barred from the building.

i hope you won't mind my asking where you stayed

this happens a lot at my uni. the international office has annyoing habit of losing handed-in work and then firmly denying having ever received it. so often has it happened during my 2 years there that the place was nicknamed 'the black hole of calcuta'. it wasn't really the fact that they lost my numerous assignment that bothered me, rather it was the their attitude - the 'they are all just silly foreigners after all' treatment and lying straight in your face. and have i ever heard a word of apologies whenever the work in question had been found? guess.

the issue was finally solved by introducing forms that need to be signed, stamped and received in 3 copies. lots of bureaucracy involved, but at least now you can shut their lying mouth with your proof.

oh, and i study in uk.

- I was born in Poland and visit the country and stay in it for long periods, and haven't seen any evidence justifying your sweeping generalisations. The behaviour of Poles in UK is also proof of their, actually, honesty and truthfulness. Many Brit employers highly value these traits in Poles. So how is it - have you made up your sweeping generalisation just to argue a bit? You know, generalisations should be backed by evidence. Have you got any, pal? I know numerous cases when Brits have lied to Poles shamelessly and conned them without mercy. Should I make sweeping pseudo-psychological and pseudo-sociological generalisations based on this fact?

I know of one unfortunate expat

- So you used this single case to base on it your sweeping generalisations about the Poles?

I wish such types as yourself didn't live in my country. And yes, if Poles are such a lying dishonest lot, why on earth you have been living 5 years in Poland?

You know, pal, you are the one here who appear to be dishonest and a liar.

seriously mate, that's a foreigner4 goes to jail for killing situation for me, how did he not end the other guy's life. I can't get it, the situation you just spelled out is a green light to end another man's days from my perspective.

Warsaw

That says a lot. I've been dealing with a lady from Warsaw for the past 2 weeks and the thing that struck me about her was how full of crap she is. I can only say that i get the distinct impression she is lying or acting each and every time we talk, and she is completely fluent in english (i mean completely)- maybe it's a warsaw thing?

The folks i'm close to are all dimes, and i'm glad i know them.

That's what I think. He makes bad business decisions.

yeah that was my hunch but unless he gives any more info then we can't know for sure. Ahhh but that's when i should stop, we're on the intraweb, can we ever know for sure?
