Thrift Stores in Warsaw

I just moved to Warsaw from Canada/America, and over there, among certain groups, thrift store shopping was a very popular activity. It is like a treasure hunt and shopping combined, and you have a much better opportunity to find something unique, or even sometimes a real vintage treasure!
Are such stores popular here? What is the word in Polish for thrift store? And does anyone know any good ones in Warsaw?

I think the generic name would be ciucholand. I might be wrong though.

I was looking for the same sort of thing in Krakow, my friends told me there are second hand/vintage shops in Kazimierz but I can't find any. Any ideas?

In NE of POland there is Gwozdziej, in almost every town - clothes, mostly from Britain I think.

In Warsaw there is Dago, they have a few shops -one opposite the Traffic Shop - second hand clothes, some English books etc.

Note that these guys are businesses, not charity shops !

If I see one more shop selling British clothes by the kilogram, I may scream.

Lumpex, thats the word everyone uses here.

interesting buisness, Charity shops in the UK have people who collect donated clothes. The people who collect them keep a percentage of the clothes and xport them to Poland, where they are then sold to the poor. (how very charitable)

Their website says "TOWAR MOŻNA OBEJRZEĆ PRZED ZAKUPEM". Wow, how nice of them to actually let you SEE what you are buying! A revelation!
