Exam for Drivers License in Poland; English?

OWELL
21 Aug 2011 #61
I think that Americans are allowed to solely sit the theory test, which is available in English.

I took my written test in 2003 with the help of a sworn translator failed once but got it second time, but again in 2003 there were tests only in polish maybe now..but yes i did get some driving books in english for polish law but my translator helped:),and yeah American license has a validity so they will take your american license and give you polish! ( no worries go back pay 5$ get another one from your local DMV).The polish license is valid till your american license was:( But its ok just go back a month back to polish MV dept submit them a doctors certificate that you are all well to drive and they will issue u a license that never expires!HURRAH!

AFAIK you cant do the English ones on a Cd-rom, but if you buy this book you'll get the exam questions with it.

zielonylistek.com/podrecznik-kat-b-j-angielski.html

That's how i did mine about 6 months ago anyway.

Do you already have a licence and if so, from what country? If it is from the EU I believe it is a simple swap of your licence.

If it is another country there may have to be an agreement between the two countries (but I'm not sure)

I purchased the practice CD in English from the same place you take the written test (but I don't know the address/name - did it 3 years ago and I think it was only PLN 15)

When you do the actual test it will be the questions from the computer CD but they are printed.

Additionally you have to bring a sworn translator with you when you do the written test.

You will also have to have sworn translation of your current licence and forfeit your current licence when you get your Polish licence.

If you don't have a licence you'll have to take the road test too.

Lastly I understand they are to increase the number of possible questions from 400 to 1500 in the NEAR future - so right it now - it took me a while to learn the 400 questions (some questions are simple and some are strange/unusual)

Mayaram, I'd eventually try to take your license in both languages! It'll only give you a leg up in the long run. First of all, Poland's part of the EU and therefore you'll know two important EU languages, English and Polish well enough to do other stuff that pays well, i.e. translate for the government. A heck of a lot more lucrative than languishing your skills away in some friggin' hole-in-the-wall language center or the like-:) Something to ponder, I should think.

I,m sure it can be exchanged legally......but in the mean time as an Englishman I am going to send off for a replacement UK licence (I,ll say the wife washed it on a very hot wash!!!) I,ll pay the £10 and get a duplicate licence, I will then use one of them to exchange for a Polish Licence and I,ll have the best of both worlds...maybe it can work for you?

I got my American license changed in 2004.i had to pass a written test with a paid translator which I failed once and then passed second time.they took my US license and gave me Polish license that expired when my US license did.they taking your US license is no worries you go back pay 5$ and get new one:) then when time came for my polish license to expire,I went with meldunik and doctors certificate that I am healthy, and I was issued a license forever( with no expiry date)

Tell me what the law is? My UK licence is an EU licence designed to be used across Europe and looks exactly the same as a Polish licence...so that a Policeman in any EU country can look at it and see what I am qualified to drive, when it was issued, is it currently valid. So what if I have a UK licence and a Polish licence.....how would that be complex? I,m taking a leaf out of Jason Bourne,s book, maybe I,ll get 6 passports next.

Thankyou for that document Warsaski, But I do live here, I have lived here for almost three years continuously....I own a nice farm in the Podarpacie region (a very beautiful area)...My UK licence is valid until I am 70 years old. But like I said, it didn,t do Jason Bourne any harm to 'hedge his bets' Yes I do know that Bourne is a fantasy character.

The "written" (which is in fact not written, but solved on computer) part of Polish driving exam has an English version, so you don't need an interpreter.

I cannot find any English-language publications on Polish highway code. The Polish version is here:
isap.sejm.gov.pl/DetailsServlet?id=WDU19970980602+2011%2405%2421&min=1 (choose the lower link - D19970602Lj.pdf - it's a consolidated text, so it's fully up to date), you may try to translate it with translators and dictionaries.

Some driving schools have courses in English, you may try contacting them, for example:
kursant.wroclaw.pl/oferta-wiecej-prawo-jazdy-b-po-angielsku.htm (this one is in Wrocław, you should find something in other cities too).

Till 2012 the driving licence theoretical test was based on a constant set of few hundreds of questions, which were available to everyone. Now it's different, there are few thousands of questions and they are secret (and in a vast part connected with short videos), but basing on the old questions' set you may prepare to the new test quite well. So if you found the translation of the old questions' set, it would be also very useful for you. Especially because the test contains also some questions on practical aspects of driving, for which you won't find answers in the highway code.

I'm looking for any English (or Spanish) material to have a look at the questions.

I have an Argentinean license valid for another 3 years so as far as I understood here I just have to translate my license and do the theoretical test, right?

Hello all, I am also from a non-EU country, do you have a link with the list of countries that are able to exchange the license? Thanks in advance!

Here I found some information, maybe it is useful for other persons:

cudzoziemiec.eu/?q=en/exchange_driving_licence

To be able to exchange the license, the license has to be issued in one country that has signed the 'Vienna Convention' cudzoziemiec.eu/docs/XI-B-19.en.pdf

I was wondering if anyone has come across an online version of the Polish Driving Test (B category). I have a book that is in english, but my computer doesn't have a CD drive so would prefer an online version. I checked a few of the sites noted in this thread but they seem to just sell CDs, but nothing online in English.
