In truth, there's an area between "in shape" and "out of shape". That's the best as far as I'm concerned.

women in Poland keep in shape for themselves and to look good for a man.

wives in Poland keep in shape or their husbands will stray.

unlike women in North America that gain 20-50 kg after popping out a kid or 2 and are generally lazy.

I'm from Canada and living in Poland at the moment. so i see it from my own eyes.
