London, not my cup of tea

Well today was the first time I went to London since 2000, Im starting a new job as a sales rep and my first 2 weeks I have to train up at the companys main offices in southwark. Now right now Im from a quiet village far away from the hussle and bussle of which I experienced today.

Thought I'd test the water and check how long it would take me from the middle of nowhere to the destination, which turned out to be 2 hours in total.

Train had around 15 stops on the way to Liverpool Station, then a further 3 underground stations I had to change direction and pass through. Gods honest truth I hated the experience! theres so many signs for tourists they end up being more confusing then helpful and Im not a fan of all the shady looking characters on the tube.

Also having to push and shove other people just to get from a to b annoyed me, Im a curtious guy who will give his seat up for someone more needy but that attitude gets you nowhere in London so I guess im going to have to change face :P

Now this is not a complaint but I found it hard to understand why I seemed to be the only english guy around, mass multiculturalism has to be seen to be believed!

Anyways I gotta be getting up at 5.30 everyday to get there on time and oughta be arriving home at 8, wish me luck :D

I could never live in such a place, but hey its for some not for others!

I've never been one for dog days in old london town either Av mate. So you have my sympathy.
A friend of mine gin soaked and leathery before his time moved there and never looked back but it's an acquired taste like cavier perhaps. :)

Question about Europe in general: Is air conditioning found anywhere?
If not, I must never go there except in winter.

I read your post. I live in Edinburgh which is a much smaller city and getting around is still a nightmare whether you drive a car or take the bus. At rush hour buses are packed and people just barge to the front of queues and bash into you when you're on them. Some people say sorry, others do not and its very frustrating to me because I always apologise if I bash someone by mistake!
Its traffic lights that drive me nuts in Edinburgh, there are so many of them!!!

Define freezing, please.
I need a temperature.
To me freezing is say 17-20 degrees Fahrenheit = 6 degrees Celsius!

Okay, today its supposed to be the middle of Summer but our temp here in Edinburgh is maximum 13 degrees celsius (55 in farhenheit). So its not warm.

You can go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ and get temps and forecasts for Britain and Europe.

surely dear admin posts 15 onward are off topic and more suited to random non abusive chat? We've got to have consistency in all things, including cake mixture and rule enforcement. :)

we're not allowed it in my office, excuse given, because we are a government department it's a security risk?! so it's okay for it to be well in excess of 30 degrees in the office and all the staff drop dead with heat stroke?
