Looking to buy a second home in Poland and retire there

I am considering on retiring in Poland, because I love the people and culture. I was born there and visited my relatives back there numerous times before. However, I am torn as to where in Poland to relocate. I am not fond of apartments and would prefer a house.

Obviously, I do not want to over pay for real estate. I was born in Szczecin. I love the beach area by the Baltic sea. However, I am open to lake areas, where it is beautiful.

Any suggestions as to the most beautiful area. I have a relative that is a brick layer. Is it wise to have a house built, or should I look in a smaller community, near a larger city, where I still can find a well built small home. I was also considering on teaching there, in retirement.

What are people's thoughts on Krakow? Will it get too cold there, since I am from Wisconsin. Obviously, in the summer it will be beautiful.

Any teaching univesities there that would appreciate my background. I graduated with a Business Degree and also a law degree. I speak Polish fluently, however the writing skills are weak.

I am a warm person, so need to be in an area, where the Polish people are especially warm and kind. However, 90% are awesome and the women are beautiful.

Hope to get your sincere input. Any wisdom and personal experience will be much appreciated. I am Catholic, down to earth, professional, and real.

Take care,

Bob

I am very interested in buying a home in Poland. However, I do not want to overpay and do not believe that I want to be in Warsaw, because it is to large.

love the smaller communities, but do not want to be too sheltered. Still want to enjoy life, playing tennis, dancing, going to the cafeterias, playing chess, meeting beautiful polish women.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. i am a professional, tax attorney, and would love to teach part-time at a University in Poland.

Life is too short, and there are so many problems here in the U.S. I was born in Poland and came here when I was 8.

any other legitimate sites to meet Polish people and get information.

Recent stories would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

i cant say that its the most beautiful area in poland but the kaszubian lake district offers beauty, endless lakes, easy access to the coast and a choice of small communities and larger cities, plus transport links to germany and the rest of europe.

some areas are still comparetively cheap - the areas around bytow and miastko for example

I suggest you to move to the areas you used to live - if you move to other parts of Poland you will want to see there what you had in your old place, so choose Szczecin areas.

Bob,

Have you found anything? Otherwise, we are U.S. residents looking to sell an apartment in the center of the Old City of Gdansk, one of the best locations possible. Interested?
