Looking for an English native speaker for media workshop

I run a kind of a media workshop in Schiller High School in Münster/Germany.

We’ve got partner in Poland, Namibia and Vietnam. We meet in our own forum. We communicate English between ourselves.

One of the media form we try to use for the communication are short video messages or reports.

My problem is that I don’t know any English native speaker who would read the off comments for our videos.

I show you an example; last year we did a video report covering our visit to Namibia. We produced three language versions of it, in Polish, German and English.

The Polish version was read by the author of the report, a polish teacher, Aga. She has send me the record of her off commentary. The recording is not really perfect, but at least her voice is alright:

  <object width="320" height="260"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kEOEMPRJxNE"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kEOEMPRJxNE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="320" height="260"></embed></object>

For the German version we took a professional speaker. And if somebody understands German he or she would hear it very clear.

 <object width="320" height="260"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0NvA3J3kxHg"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0NvA3J3kxHg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="320" height="260"></embed></object>

Then we did the English version and as we couldn’t find any native speaker, my girlfriend had to do it.

 <object width="320" height="260"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Gb8Bi3hQp90"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Gb8Bi3hQp90" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="320" height="260"></embed></object>

I think that it is not that bad, but still it certainly would be much better understandably if we could have a “real” English voice to it.

So if somebody would like to help us the he or she would have to be able to:
- record his or hers reading with a good sound quality (the best solution would be a small video camera, usually they record sound quite nice. You would also need any of video edit programs to extract the wav file from the video)

- to convert it into an mp3 file (this is also no problem, there are numerous freeware programs to convert it)

- to upload it (which is not a problem at all because we’ve go our own upload file capacity on our site)

I know it’s a lot I’m asking for. So my only hope is that somebody would have natural interest in producing media forms and would understand it as his or hers personal experience and fun of working on it.

Basically it doesn’t matter at all. It doesn’t also make any difference if it’s a male, female, young or old voice. It should be sort of nice and fluent, read with some basic skill for intonation. And it’s also important that it is recorded in a half-decent way. The usual cheap headset would probably not be enough.

Please don’t take me wrong. I’m not even a professional video maker so I’m not looking for somebody to do a job for me for free. I play around making videos which is nothing spectacular in the youtube times, anybody can do it, in fact millions people do it everyday.

So my idea was that someone who is interested in this kind of stuff anyway would like to help, or maybe I should say - would like to join the fun of playing around with this possibility of communicating, experimenting with it.

In fact I don’t even know what I would like to do with it. I mean, what kind of a video feature I would like to create using this voice. I just think that it would be a nice inspiration to have this opportunity.

In this forum people from all over the world meet, as it seems. Maybe I can talk someone to make an simple video introducing his or her city. What you need is your voice, some pictures and any easy editing program. It would be so nice to see where you live.

And if you’ve got any technical questions about making a video and uploading it to youtube - I would be very happy to help you. One thing to begin with: believe me, it is very easy.

So you're saying that the location doesn't matter, as you want the person to send the recording to you? or have I misunderstood that bit?
