i find it interesting that you dont mind if they dont speak english or not ,how the hell are they supposed to communicate with your children what kind of mother are you ,you say your 2 year old is in play group then the poor child will be collected by someone who doesnt speak english ,how would that person comfort your daughter if she were upset .???

Much as I dont hold with Freddys posts, she has got a point, would you leave your child with someone who couldnt communicate in the host countires lang, to even a basic level??., who couldnt ring you and tell you if there was a problem with your child, or worst still if she had to take them to hospital and couldnt get there because she could communicate....think about it...I sure as hell wouldn't want someone to look after my kids (if I had any) who didnt have the basic command of whatever lang..I spoke...

I know the woman said basic english is needed but not esential...what kind of satement is that???

We're talking about a really responsible job here....

Not having a go luv just making a point.

i can agree with you i didn't comment her post but her attitude.it is a bit bizzare that someone wants to have non-english speaking nanny if your one of your children is ten years old.if they both were 1-3years old it wouldn't matter cos her level of english would be very similar to the children's.and a nanny would pick up words along with children.i think that this parents had a foreign nanny before and never experienced any problems or they hadn't thought through it.
i have funny feeling that it wasn't freddy who wrote the 2nd post.
personally i would not employ a nanny who couldn't speak a word of polish

i said i personally would not employ a nanny who doesn't speak my language but the parents from the post above made their choice and i respect it.it is a bit weird but it is still their choice so that i am not going to say things like you did;"what kind of mother are you" ect

British people think that they are very tolerant, but......... they are not. Not more that any other people, anywhere.
