Looking for Swiec Family

I am helping my brother-in-law Peter Swiec locate his family in Poland. His father Gabriel Swiec was from Tarkawica, near Lublin in Poland. In 1950 he came to Australia to live and his sister Marianna went to South America. They had 5 other brothers and sisters. One was called Yosef or Josef and he had twins born around the same time as Peter was born. This was 1948 making them around 60 years old now. Does anyone know of any Swiecs from Ploand?

Peter Swiec must be Piotr Swiec..
I have seen Lukasz Jan Swiec at rzymskokatolicka parafia Św. Elżbiety w Nysie.

There are 213 people in Poland signing themselves Świec. The largest single cluster is found in and around Nowy Sącz (34), Polish mountain country.

Thank you both for your replies.

Jola - I have sent an email to the address you suggested but have had no reply.

Polonius3 - Could you tell me if Nowy Sącz is close to Tarkawica? We found some phone numbers on a Polish online telephone directory. I don't speak or read Polish so I had to use an online translator to enter information into the phone number search area. I tried to stick to the Tarkawica area and found 1 Swiec living in Tarkawica, 1 in Lubartow and 1 in Lublin. Peter tried to ring them but only the one in Lubartow spoke English but they couldn't understand each other well enough to exchange email addresses.

Tarkawica is a village of less than 500 in eastern Poland's Lublin voivodeship (province), district of Lubartów. It is quite a way from Nowy Sącz which is in the mountainous south of the country. For ways to track down long-lost relations in Poland contact research60@gmail.com

Thank you everyone for all your help. Peter has found his relatives in Poland. He sent a message to a Swiec from Poland on Skype and they returned his call this morning. He is now in touch with lots of his cousins.

It's really wonderful when things like this happen.

Yes, you're right, it is wonderful and it's good that the OP returned to tell us that contact had been made.

Good luck to Peter Swiec, I'm sure there much to be exchanged between you and your cousins :)
