March 9th is the deadline for applying for the lottery to get tickets for Polish games at Euro 2008.

kupbilet.pl

One can apply for a maximum of 2 tickets per application (person), but one has to be a Polish citizen, pesel number is required and I think passport number also.

Fortunately I got my wife to apply, so now all I have to do is wait ............

awaiting too, the lottery is on March 14th, too bad there are about 900,000 orders (I assume every order for two tickets) and less than 8,00 tickets, our chances are 1:230 :(

Does anyone know, how much the tickets will cost yet?

you mean the official price (which is commonly known) or possible black market prices (which can only depend on how greedy the seller is) ?

there are 3 categories of seats/prices for each match:
group stage:
191 / 340 / 467 PLN (Polish zloty)
quarterfinals:
255 / 467 / 764 PLN
semifinals:
340 / 764 / 1273 PLN
final:
680 / 1422 / 2334 PLN

so the cheapest way to support your team all the way to the final is 1848 PLN, the most expensive seats for all 6 games = 5772 PLN

sorry for my ignorance but would the average wage in Poland allow a football fan to buy and afford these types of tickets for all the stages??

well i just asked as many Poles prefer to travel hundreds of miles to find jobs where they can recieve much better wages, so i didn't know how much the average wage was and if the prices were relevant to that.

Recently there was a tournament in Africa, the cup of nations, where the ticket prices were altered so that the local fans could afford to attend. I was in no way trying to suggest that the whole of Poland was poor i can assure you

Thats a good point. I'm always amazed how much travelling support poland, czech republic etc. bring giving that the salaries are lower.

Went to see Shakthar Donetsk play Celtic in the CL last year. The Donetsk lads brought their girlfriends, stayed in city centre hotels and went mad in the shops buying all sorts of stuff. Tickets were 36 GBP which apparently is a little less than the average salary in Ukraine

besides, we're talking about a total 7,800 tickets (for all of the 3 group stage matches) which gives 2,600 persons (assuming one wins tickets for all 3 matches), you don't think, hopefully, Poland is that poor not to have a several thousand of people who can afford it :)
Africa is a completely different story, they earn maybe 1/100 of what an average Englishman does (while in Poland it's rather 1/3 or 1/5 - I don't know the exact figures) and we also have a few millions people working abroad in rich countries (UK, Germany etc.), who are still Polish citizens and are allowed to apply for the tickets, so sorry tornado, but the more I think about your question, the more stupid it seems, and I honestly hope you agree with me (we're not talking about car prices or household appliances that everybody need or think they need).

Thanks for that Krzysztof

Of course travel and accommodation, have to be taking into account, perhaps doubling these prices

of course, but think of it like a holiday trip, you'd spend money on travel (Austria is close to Poland anyway) and accomodation as well :)
and if you want to save some money, you don;t have to live in Vienna/Klagentfurt, the matches are every 4th day, so you can find a cheaper place to live, somewhere outside the tourist places.

depressing news:
"Zgodnie z regulaminem, wylosowanie biletów na jeden z meczów oznaczać będzie usunięcie z puli losowanych na inne spotkania."

(from Gazeta newspaper, online edition). I really hope Polish sports journalists are wrong (as it often happen), otherwise it means something like that (my translation isn't close to good, but I hope I got the message right):

"According to the regulations, winning the tickets for one match will result in cancelling your applications from other matches lotteries"

so basically it means you only have a chance to see one match via the lottery !

I'll have to check the terms & conditions .... something I never do !

It really sucks (if it's true), I was sure there would be some kind of follow-your-team tickets (like for World Cup 2006), allowing you to see all the matches of Poland (or whatevr team you support) and I didn't bother with the terms & conditions either.

Tried to get onto the site kupbilet.pl to check terms & conditions, but the site is not available due to some technical work being carried out ....

I thought each match would be drawn separately, so one had an equal chance of getting a ticket for every game.

So if I am lucky enough to get tickets for the first match, I am withdrawn automatically from the lottery for the other matches and have no chance whatsoever in subsequent games ?

To say that I am pissed off would be an understatement !........(if what you say is actually true !)

Check http://www.pzpn.pl/bilety.php

This is the official PZPN site and nowhere does it state (unless I missed it !) that once an applicant has been allocated tickets for one of matches they are withdrawn from lottery for other matches.

They state that applicants if they are lucky in the lottery have until 20th March to pay for the tickets otherwise they lose them .... this also applies for the post group phase matches which are conditional on Poland getting through the group phase.

Shame I'm going back to England on Friday as Poland will be playing a friendly against USA at the end of March in Krakow.

I've downloaded and read the 12 pages PZPN regulations
http://kupbilet.pl/PZPN_bilety_EURO2008.pdf
it seems the Polish journalists again know something, but not completely ("wiedzą, że dzwonią, ale nie wiedzą, w którym kościele"):
1/ You can win only once in the lottery for the group stage (1 ticket if applied alone, 2 tickets if applied for a friend as well), so you can see only 1 match of those 3: POL-GER, POL-AUT, POL-CRO.
2/ no such limitation for further stages (1/4 final through final).

So basically (if Poland plays in the final and you're very lucky with the lottery) you could see 4 games, one in the group and then quarter-, semi- and final.

It will be interesting to see how much these tickets will be on allegro, ebay etc...

Good luck to everybody who applied for tickets ...:o)

Polanglik, did you get some tickets?
I didn't have the luck, nor did my brother-in-law.
Well, some cash remains in the pocket, so a better holiday trip :)
Anyways, there is still some hope, because they begged UEFA for more tickets and received 1,000 of them (which is 13% compared to those 8,000 for public sale), the new lottery will be held probably this coming week (when UEFA communicates PZPN the matches and price categories), I only hope they sell all those thousand tickets to us, not like the first batch (36% for supporters and 64% for officials and VIPs).

We will do. It's not a question of "IF," it's a question of "WHEN."
