They should come with a health warning ;0 ;) Or, failing that, a risk assessment sticker. When you see a 10, steer well clear ;)

Of course. It's just their changeability that makes you never know where you stand at any given moment.

Married life not all bliss, Seanus?

Well, I'm a grateful kind of guy so I can see all the good things that she does for me. I've seen plenty mistakes over petty stuff in other relationships so we're keen not to fall into those shallow traps.

Priorities and compromise, that's what it's all about.

The thing is, more and more are experiencing nouveau-riche culture. Give them some cash and they're off and running. There is NO WAY you can tell me that some of the potato-headed, karki boys that they hang out with pleasure them beyond the superficial

So they're Gold Diggers is what you're saying? In my experience here in the US, the Polish girls in general have been much less materialistic than your average American girl. But note that the Polish girls I have met were your study-hard, read-alot, large goal girls who were obviously more intelligent than your others. I'm sure the same would apply to other ethnicities, and not just Polish. So mind you, is it rather IQ and not ethnicity that causes such trends in gold-diggers? After all if an individual possesses a high IQ and overall intelligence, aren't they more likely to be the reason to become the "riche" as opposed from having to shadow/suck on others?

Yes! That's what I liked best about my smart Polish girl. She was so un-Americanized and genuine...

I guess what I'm saying is that more and more are jumping on the bandwagon of accruing wealth but that's their perogative. Besides, overheads are really rising here and it's hard for many Poles to build up a nest egg for a rainy day (the black hour). I prefer not to guess their motivations. They have their lives and I have mine. They aren't harming anyone and life is a contract.

True. And it is up to each of us to look out for our own best interests. I suppose the more difficult life is in a country the more the peeps are assertive about collecting and protecting those interests...

Plus, they were denied so long under communism. Imagine the US or Scotland had to go through that for 43 long years. We'd be rugged and gritty too.

Right. Instead we're soft and spoiled because we don't know just how good we have it compared to others.

I think TV and movie access giving a view of western life has also likely contributed to the attitudes in eastern places. I can imagine a little Polish kid seeing Hollywood's version of US life on TV and then looking around at her own world and thinking how it could be much better for her. So maybe TV has contributed to this drive we see... Heck, maybe TV brought down communism?

Right, it comes through exposure. They were shielded from the outside world, receiving limited radio broadcasts and that was their lot. That has changed and they got their chance to use their 'spryt'. Polak potrafi :)

My wife loves American serials. 90210 chiefly but also Gossip Girl and many others. Then come the questions about luxury. She's twisted my arm and we're off to a 5-star hotel in Fuerteventura right at the start of 2011. However, I dread the day that she mentions Ferraris as I'll be off to the miniature shop for the smallest replica out there. That'll be 80PLN, please :)

LOL! I'm sure there is a lot of that! Prolly many husbands and fathers have to contend with that. Hahahaha!
So your wife is a perfect example of my speculation on how TV has changed that part of the world...
That's exactly why the Commies wanted so to shield their subjects from the western world influences. With the internet it will only get more difficult. The powers in places like China and Iran are wrestling with this now.
Kinda funny how Hollywood helped end communism elsewhere and yet it is the center of communism in America...

They look to the West to see how they live. However, the grass is always greener on the other side.

Here we go again. Polish girls do seem to be a tad bit more emotional. If they only learned to generate positive vibes and energy. They seem to thrive off of negativity, I just don't get it.

it's because their mothers used to do it.

Again the attitudes developed under communism show. I think it will likely take a couple of generations for that to subside...

Imagine that I wasn't feel a fate unfairness due to a fact I was brought up in Poland. I had my klocki LEGO, my Barbie (orginal! not Steffie), I had my PC (actually my brother's PC), my rollerblades (back in 1996 every kid had to get one), my tama egg (do you remember that creature?? brrr), my cable tv, and imagine I nerver envied Americans their life... actually I wasn't aware that I should envy Americans their life. So please sto that nonsense. Life wasn't awful. And despite my dad had Polonez Truck in 1996, I did not feel liek poor Eastern European... can you believe that?

My parents have good life during communism. Especially my dad thinks so.

lol why the sad face then? I prefer original and genuine ones as opposed to americanized ones. There's a reason why Polish girls are esteemed as attractive, and much more than American girls are....

Whether it's genes, communism, or plain respect (as I see it), I like the unmaterialization of most Polish girls. Who wants to be in love with a bunch of labelled corporate logos anyway?

They look to the West, not looked. I think you misunderstood the phrase, 'the grass is always greener on the other side' , Zeti. What do you think I intended to say by stating it? Besides, you represent one voice only....

Now, back to the thread. Ever been with a Polish girl, Zeti? ;) Could you imagine it? ;) ;)

Women are generally nutters. Its because they have some hormons that men don't have and they (those hormons not men!) made them nutters. Sometimes it's a good excuse (e.g. an imaginary disease invented by Cosmo called Zespoł Napięcia Przedmiesiączkowego) but mostly it's just the men who are sometimes such niedomyślni that it's just unbelievable! Sometimes there are things that are obviouse and man can't see it. Man is such a naive creature that thinks the things don't exist untill they are spoken (and must-be rule - it has to be spoken directly). They are also bad in understanding metaphors, double sense, buttom truth and other so complicated but sophisticated ways of telling things. It seems that they are sometimes not so bright as we girls are... ;P ;)

*Yeah, girl power! ;P*

why not, when it`s true...I know it`s funny for you. Men has such a huge ego that he would never ever say "sorry, it`s my fault". And if he does, most probably he`s afraid of a girl he`s with
