@Beaumont: where shall it be and what do witnesses really have to do? Do they also need to do paperwork ahead of time? If not too demanding, maybe I could be one of them ;).

@Beaumont! I have not really thought of it. In fact, whenever I can help, I do (normal since I like when people help me).
Do send me pm with all explanation and also we can get to know each other a bit more.

Sorry but it shall not be possible as there is no way I can be at 12 at Rzeszów. I live in Warsaw and need to take train. If it had been in Warsaw or even in late afternoon in Rzeszów I could and would have done it.

I think there are a few Polish guys living in your area, check on the forum and you'll be able to locate them. At worst, maybe you can find English people there from language schools.

Sorry, it is too far for me and with public transportation, it'll be an ordeal to go and back.

Like I said, try to find English speakers like I say.

Good luck and all the best! :)

Hi! Like I said, do contact language schools and most probably you'll find one or 2 English teachers available.
Good luck!

my understanding is that a witness in Poland needs to be able to understand Polish or be accompanied by a sworn translator. I'd post on rzeszowiak.pl/Rozne-Poszukuje-2310011155 or go to one of the Rzeszow facebook pages and post a request there you might find someone that speaks Polish & English there.

I'm 100% sure they do, but if there is going to be a translator at the wedding anyway (assuming you don't speak and understand Polish) it's kind of a non issue, couldn't the translator be one of your witnesses which means you'd only need one more?

I don't know about witnesses but as far as getting married, for sure if foreigners don't know Polish, they have to have sworn-in translators. When I got married in 1990 in Poland, I could speak maybe 3 words of Polish. At first, they were reluctant to carry on with the ceremony and then they thought "what's the hell?" and I got married without understanding anything. I just said 'tak" and everybody was happy. Well, it was in 1990 and everything was upside down then but now, they do things by the book.

I'm 100% sure they do

No.

Both witnesses at my wedding in Poland didn't speak Polish. No issue whatsoever.

@Smurf: it could be different from one place to another so best that the OP and wife check on it before arriving to city hall all dressed up ;)

(my witnesses were Poles so no problem of the kind)

PS: when and where did you get married?

@Smurf; "Podkarpackie", where the hell is that? Rzeszów? As said, it could be different from one place to another so best to be sure beforehand ;)

Indeed you were, you'd presume then that the same rules apply?

@Smurf: I don't know so I suggest Beaumont to check with administration. It would not be a good idea to go there all dressed up expecting to be married and the mayor (or whoever does it) refuses because they don't speak Polish. I assume Beaumont's future wife is Polish so she can call and find out.

Why not doing it the easy way? They just ask 2 employees at ratusz and after that they invite them for a drink and that's it.

PS:! I meant to send a mp to Beaumont and have noticed that she is a girl contrary to what I had thought and written. Well, no sweat! I could not guess

Congratulations! All the best to both! :). Well, ... Auchan???!!!! I would have never thought of that ;). I mean that I would not have thought of contacting foreign companies. Was it hard to find people? Since obviously you guys don't know anyone over there, these people from Auchan can probably be already considered like friends :).

thank you, he has family here but i don't, so for me it was better to get strangers as witnesses because there would have been more of his family and i don't speak polish at all. and yes we do consider them as friends.
