I'm not aware of any Brits who suffer this by virtue of being British. Brits may get disspirited in the job market let's say but we don't feel inferior, I can tell u that 4 free.

as a nation of world leaders for centuries i doubt you will find many brits have an inferiority complex. you are much more likely to find this in a nation, such as poland, that has lived under oppression for decades and is struggling to find its place in a world not fully understood by it citizens

I'd say you're more likely to find a superiority complex.
I think that's why in a country which still has a strong economy, low unemployment, a language that's widely spoken around the world and an ability to form an orderly queue, you find people claiming the country is going to the dogs (dogs with floppy ears?) or going to hell in a handcart (is that a bit like a Tesco's shopping trolley?)

You never won anything other than 'Biggest pain in the arse.'
WW2 was won by the allied forces, not by one country, and definately not by some racist tosser who doesn't give a monkey's about anyone else.

Who would ur standard Brit feel inferior to Greg? Britain, for a relatively small island, produces and has produced some exceptionally talented people. If u wanna be specific, then there have been times when certain Brits have felt inferior, e.g Nigel Short to Garry Kasparov, but speaking English has opened many doors. I can go and teach English quite freely in many countries as a native speaker. Do u have that option Greg? It doesn't make me feel superior Greg, I was just born with that status and I don't take it for granted. If some people want to develop an inferiority complex, that's their cup of tea

And that's ur choice Bubba Woo, I respect it. I'm not overly proud of Scotland but i do feel that my country is internationally respected and I'm welcomed wherever I go. So, I can take pride from that. I've achieved well in the things that matter to me so I feel good about that. I don't compare myself with people from other countries therefore I feel neither superior nor inferior.

Getting the picture Gregory? Beginning to see a trend emerge? It's not in our national pysche to feel inferior. Depressed? Sometimes yes but that can be a natural reaction to life if u r wired that way or were treated badly. U mentioned this on another thread Greg, so I will answer here that we don't feel the need to strut our stuff and be super competitive, our country's impressive results across the board (pretty much) speak for themselves

Try accusing many Americans of having an inferiority complex Greg and see the responses u get then. Brits are giving u a very level-headed response here. A sign of intelligence in not taking the bait and ranting/raving. A sign of comfort in being who they are without getting all defensive.

It's difficult when a quarter of yourself wants to emigrate. The other three quarters is split between being determined to stay and not really giving a proverbial flying friar.

Rubbish, I thought that the British pound was doing very well on the World stage. Probably and more likely, your Polish Magistr is not recognized outside of Poland. I do not really believe that the British have inferior complexes but I hate the social engineering that takes place. The British deliberately have poor quality schools because they know they are going to need a future generation of low paid working class. I believe the British are certainly nationalistic, certainly much more than the French are.

Superiority complex refers to a subconscious neurotic mechanism of compensation developed by the individual as a result of feelings of inferiority. The feelings of inferiority in this specific complex are often brought on by social rejection, possibly as a result of the individual's inattentiveness to hygiene, perceived ugliness, or lower intelligence as compared to others.

Hmm... maybe...
